This is a brand new ADSL router from Thomson, formerly the DSL routers from ALCATEL. Thomson has heavily invested recently in VoIP (SIP:MGCP and H323) in both VoIP phones and IADs.
The 716g is a very nice box which allows sharing of highspeed internet access combined with high quality VoIP access with IP QOS for the voice traffic (ef).
The configuration is all webbased and very easy. I have had it running for a few weeks and it works perfectly with voipuser.org and Asterisk. I have a dialplan in place which skips the 0032 dialcode (Belgium) and the FXO port is connected to the PSTN Belgacom line (low cost 7 Euro/month line subscription). That way I can receive all PSTN calls and make default VoIP calls.
The 716g will automatically re-route outbound calls to the FXO port when not registered, or when there is a power failure. I also have configured a forced FXO dialplan which allows access to outbound PSTN by dialing a "#" in front.
It also features a 802.11bg access point and is therefore able to support wireless internet access and WiFi VoIP phones.
Excellent box and very well priced.
