VoIP Support General - Server not accessible - C475IP

dr_malki - Jan 16, 2010 - 09:05 AM

Hi all
I have been trying to register my Siemens C475IP with www.Localphone.com
I have put the needed settings, but every time I try to register the phone, I keep having a message saying server not accessible.
Any suggestions?
Regards

Not possible without actually seeing the settings you are trying. What have Localphone said? Their customer services department should be able to see your login attempt and to troubleshoot for you. If they cannot or will not then you should be swapping to an alternative VOIP provider ASAP.

VoIPuser will be up and running again shortly, when it is you can try logging in to us as a test.

Localphone have set up info for the c460ip on their site:

http://www.localphone.com/help/voip/dev ... ens/c460ip

Check that, where possible, that yours matches exactly.

I have checked my settings with the ones mentioned for the 460 and still not working.

You need to do some systematic diagnostics now because it looks like the problem is with your own configuration.

If you connect a computer directly to your router and you use a voip soft phone are you then able to connect to localphone and make calls? If not, can you ping localphone.com:
64 bytes from lpserv-lw16.localphone.com (94.75.247.16): icmp_seq=4 ttl=55 time=97.4 ms
dr_malki - Jan 22, 2010 - 07:18 PM

Please find the result of pinging localphone.com
Ping statistics for 94.75.247.16:
Packets: Sent = 3, Received = 4, lost = 0 (05)
Minimum = 135ms, Maximum = 136ms, Average = 135ms

Please note I am Not able to register with localphone.com
Many thanks for your help.

Before you waste any more time, are you sure that your country is not amongst those that block voip?

I am sure that Tesco's provider is working here, but I am trying to get the phone working with the localphone as it is cheaper.

Please try to connect using a soft client on your computer. You need to be sure whre the problem is before you try to cure it.

I have tried Tesco soft-phone, and it works through PC.
But again I have tried to connect the handset using the Tesco account, and again I was not able to connect through.

Any ideas?

Is that client provided by the local Tesco chain? Try using X-Lite if that works we have a better idea of where the problem is and if not then we probably know where the problem is.

yes the client is provided by the Tesco soft phone. I have tried the X-Lite and it didnt work.
Can the problem be from the router itself?

Possibly Tesco only allow you to use their client so you must pay their rates to call out and be their client. Otherwise voip may be blocked.

I have sent you a pm

The Tesco system uses IAX and not SIP

There have been quite a few discussions about this elsewhere in the forum and its worth going back and doing a quick search for 'Tesco' and some extra reading.

http://www.voipuser.org/forum_topic_15271.html is just one example
