Just a little procedure to help out!

How to configure X-LITE 3.0 with voipuser.org service

1. Download X-LITE 3.0 and install it :

http://www.counterpath.com/
Edit.... new link is: http://www.counterpath.net/x-lite.html&active=4

2. You might have to open the following ports in your router/firewall :

UDP 3478
UDP 5060
UDP 8000
UDP 8001

3. Open X-LITE and click on the small down arrow and then on SIP Account Settings :

4. Click on Add… :

a. Display name : Your user name.
b. User name : Your user name.
c. Password : Your password
d. Authorization user name : your user name.
e. Proxy : sip.voipuser.org

6. If you have difficulty establishing a connection with the server, go to the Topology tab and enter stun.voipuser.org as the STUN server:

7. Click on OK and then Close.

8. If you have correctly followed the instructions, you should see the following message on the X-LITE display :

Has the account worked on another softphone or elsewhere? If not then it could be your password (try a reset).

Have you opened ports to Xlite 3 ? Are you running another softphone on the same PC that may have grabbed the ports ?

A bit more info from your side would prompt some more ideas

Hi gray,

I was using this account far time ago (6 months +/-). I starting to use it again. I'm not running any other softphone and I oppened the ports (I tried shuting down the firewall too). I'm going to try reseting the password, but I don't think this is the problem.

Regards

Well, that worked... For some reason I not aware of my website password was not the same as the sip account password.

Thanks

Hi dadelcas,

I see that your SIP account is one of the early ones (June 2005). Quite likely that we've changed something and it wasn't you. So the passwords going out of sync was probably our fault and could have happened a while ago (that's probably why Gray suggested a reset). We did have a sync problem some 6 months or so back (since fixed).

Glad you got it working again. Welcome back Wink

I've tested the ports with the app provided and they are all open. I have input all the settings three times and checked them three times as many. I can't ping sip.voipuser.org even though i can go to the site. What is happening? It's confusing me because I can't even connect my sip device!

Long time since I've seen that so I've forgotten the cause Wink

However, if you can list your settings here (other than password of course) one of us can probably spot the error for you.

Try using sip.voipuser.org for the Domain rather than vopiuser.org (misspelled)
