Hey,
i am a webmaster and i am interested in creating a voip (standard opensource package) service for my site users. What i have in mind are:
1. an application for users to make calls from. this should allow spot calls, user accounts management, access to other likely features such as voicemail, conferencing, messaging.

2. i would like a solution for GSM/Voip phones to make calls through ther website.

3. connection for owners of home phones to make calls through an interface on the site. Also, advise on billing & billing solutions. I want this service running on my site ASAP.

Anybody with an idea of how i can get this package should please contact me at mistertchima [!at] yahoo.com (replace the [!at] with a @)

Hi Okolie,

Check out www.busta.com and possibly even www.estara.com

Then decide what you want and hire a developer to build it for you.

Personally, at this point in time I would definitely stick with the SIP protocol at the backend. If you can build a small Java based (so x-platform) SIP "widget", you'll be able to sell it to countless other people.

Yeah thanks for that. Though, I need to understand what the backend SIP protocol is?

It's an open-standards protocol - all the info is in the relevant RFC's.
