Search advertising on mobile devices would be a fabulous subsidy...

Quote:
Europe's biggest telecoms groups are aiming to create a mobile phone search engine that could challenge Yahoo! and Google, the US giants.

Vodafone, France Telecom, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Hutchison Whampoa, Telecom Italia and one American network, Cingular, are among the companies that will come together for secret, high-level talks at the mobile industry's biggest annual trade show in Barcelona next week.

Sorry for bumping an old post, but just found it and have to say, they probably got off the horse at the start of the 2nd meeting...

I have no personal atachment with Google, but is clear it will take some time for someone to move it out, specially while they have the money to buy competence out of the market.

As with other huge companies, it will grow big and fat enogh to be unable to maintain it self breething, that's probably their challange.

And regarding the telcos, I'd recomend them to recycle themself on great ISP's and keep investing there, internet will be the only way soon.

Cheers,
Matute
