Hello All,

I'm planing to buy 4 GSM phones for me and my friends to use VOIP. Most of the time we are capable to have a WiFi zone. I couldn't reached to satisfactory information about seamless convergence from WiFi to GSM (I hope via GPRS) switching. Also, I'm planing to get SIP ATA devices for home and office.
If I write a list of my needs:

1) GSM phone which can support VOIP-Out, VOIP-In from GPRS.
2) Same as #1 but with WiFi. Seamless convergence from/to WiFi and GPRS during VOIP call.
3) Acceptible roaming for WiFi zones.
4) SIP to SIP calls.
5) SIP ATA devices (without PC) (Grandstream Handy Tone 386 seems satisfactory)
6) Bluetooth (if possible)
7) Built-in GPS (if possible): (Sorry this is off-topic.)
Cool If possible run Skype additionally.

Nokia E or N series mobiles seems to support these but not sure how good they are.

Any advice, comment, experiments welcome.

No replies?

I'm looking for something similar. I would be happy if I could switch back and forth between a GSM mobile phone and VOIP using wifi.

What would be really cool is if the VOIP access point was smart enough to forward to the mobile number if the mobile/wifi phone was not within reach of the wife-VOIP access point.

Is there anything out there yet?

Two of the best ones: Nokia N95 and Nokia N80i. N95 is the best.

If you want to spend less, I recommend these ones:

Thank you for your reply.

Although I did not still buy a phone, I agree on Nokia choices.

A note for anyone who reads this thread: Take care if you plan to buy a PDA and alike. They have problem related to WiFi VOIP applications: Any calls received with a VOIP application uses the speakerphone on the device which makes it almost impossible to talk to the other party.

I have N95 and up till now very satisfied. If you have decided to go with Nokia then you should surely prefer N95.

I have a Utstarcom GF210 - works well with both Stanaphone (VoIP) and T-Mobile USA (GSM)

The Nokia E61i works well with VoIP. You can sort of run Skype via the iSkoot client, although I think you need a contract with 3 to get the free Skype-Skype calling. The Nokia S60s can support a range of different software applications for VoIP including Gizmo, Fring, Truphone. Also, presence/IM integration via a variety of different packages: Fring, Eqo and Gizmo.
