Skype have joined alliance with Google to implement this within the Google advertising network:-

Quote:
Executives from Google and eBay said their multiyear advertising agreement would also include an experiment in click-to-call advertising using Google Talk and eBay's Skype -- both Internet telephone services -- as a way for would-be customers to contact a business owner to place an order or get more information.

This market is really starting to shape up. This is the click to call of the future - nothing embedded into the web page, just a number that you click and dial out to with the application of your choice. I suspect we'll see this coupled to traditional 0800/1-800 numbers as well as skypeto:// and gtalkto:// tags.

One question that springs to mind with this new Skype/Google deal - if Skype needs Google to implement and monetise Click to Call, then just what did eBay pay $2.4bn for?
