Hello,

I hope this is the right forum for this. I can't get my voipuser trunk to register. No matter what I try I keep getting the congestion message when trying to call out to a UK number and this entry in my log file:

Forbidden - wrong password on authentication for INVITE to '"0448xxxxxxxxx"

I also see, at various points:

Forbidden - wrong password on authentication for REGISTER for 'username' to 'voipuser.org'

Of couse the username has been changed. I have tried everything I can think of including resetting my password. The number I'm trying to call is in the following format: 016xxxxxxxx. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

Please help.

Outgoing Settings
Trunk Name voipuserout

context=from-pstn
fromdomain=voipuser.org
fromuser=myusername
host=sip.voipuser.org
insecure=very
qualify=no

type=peer
username=myusername

Register String

The reg string should be like

register => username:password@sip.voipuser.org/44844xxxxxxx

[voipuser]
type=peer
username=xxxxxxx
secret=xxxxxx
host=83.143.18.16
fromuser=xxxxxxxx
fromdomain=sip.voipuser.org
nat=yes
canreinvite=no
insecure=very
qualify=yes
allow=all

Well this is what I have and it works

Ian,

Thanks for the reply! I went through me configuration point by point to match yours. I've even reset my website password and the reset my sip password to match my website password and I'm still getting the "Forbidden - wrong password on authentication for INVITE to '"0448xxxxxxxxx"" error. Oddly though, when I do a sip show peers it says the connection is OK and calls through my other sip trunks work fine.

What do you think I may be missing? I know I can be a bit dense sometimes and I can't seem to figure this out.

Thanks,

Tom

That is my voipuser number. I think it may be pulling it from my CID info. I've tried removing it and when I do I get the same error except the INVITE portion changes to "Tom" my internal CID from the extension.

Just a double check but you are using SIp right as we don't offer IAX outbound Wink

Yes, it's a SIP trunk. I just can't seem to get this working. It's becoming very annoying! I've gone so far as to delete the trunk and recreate it (twice) with the same results. I' starting to think that I should just create a new account and see if that works Sad. I'm really starting to run out of ideas. But I may put any drastic measures on hold as the new version of Asterisk@Home is due to be released on May 30th and will require a reinstall anyway. I'll see if I still have the problem after the upgrade and if so will report back.
