Hello fellas,
The question is as follows:
Will I be able to make free calls after those 90 days validity period are over? Or should I try to spend that balance before that period is over at all costs?
Thank you |

Hello tiltalit and welcome to Voipuser.
In fact the period is 120 days. After that period the unused balance will be removed and you will not be able to make free calls until you buy additional balance.
There are nuw rules in the free calls:
Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded, a minimal rate of 1ct/min will be charged (as shown in the InternetCalls software). The same apply to Voipcheap/Voipbuster/Voip(etc).

Unfortunately it seems that period has been narrowed down to 90 days. I have 81 days left to spend all those 10€. It's quite a scam, because with Skype you have 180 days since your last call, not since your last purchase (BIG difference). I will never trust this kind of software again, having to spend my balance by force is just dumb.
Cheers,
S. |

I believe you will need to read their TOS to understand the nature of their business before you can start calling this practise is a scam. I was tempted with this kind of offer; however, after reading their TOS, I decided not to invest my $$$ on this kind of services. Had I decided to do so, then I would have been a victim too . |

It's not actually a scam, and it can pay off if you're calling landline phones with Skype and paying 0,017€. I know it's almost nothing, but I was having 1-hour conversations and I was spending money with Skype. With Voipcheap I don't have to pay, so if I call US, UK or Spanish phones I can talk for hours without worrying. I guess the dark side of the deal is that you'll pay 10€ whether you use it or not. I was a little mad when finding about this little trick, but it was a little exaggerated. It just depends on what's your goal when using this software. |

Hi,
You have to remember that they have to make money somehow. For example they have to about £10 a year for a UK TN and have to pay for all these calls.
As the others have said you have to take into account your calling paterns. I think a make good use of my 10 Euros call UK fixed lines during the day and making calls to Thialand. Before Thisland was free I was using up the 10 eurs before it ran out anyway.
If you think about it it is no different to paying extra line rental for a calling plan.

By the way, I guess you also lose your VoIP number as well, right? I'm not specially interested in this but since I'm always relocating I might need one kind of landline phone sometimes, and I think a Voip number may come in handy for that matter. |

So use a Voipuser number for incoming ! As long as you receive the occasional call it won't be cut off |

Hi
I only use VOIP Discount for outgoing calls as I wanted a UK geographic number for incomming.
My setup is a Sipura 3K and I use SIPGATE for I/C and VOIP Calls and have never paid them a penny.
The advantage of SIPGATE is that a UK Geographic number is free and is cheaper for people to call than the VOIP Discount 05 number.
The disavantage is that their I/C service is not that reliable.
I have also been unable to call VOIP accounts outside the VOIP Discount community a distink disadvantage!
If you want to go down the softphone route you can set all this up using Xlite as it allows mutiple accounts.

Also if you put any credit in your voipcheap you will also keep your current credit even if it is over you 90 days, so it wil be current credit plus what ever you put in.

I've debated, and not sure yet I am going to fall for the trick of the *free* calls special. To purchase credit still reads 120days of *free* calls. My question is; the main reason for purchasing the 'special' is because the country I can call while I am away for about that same length of time is part of the 'free' countries list though my payment goes to my home address which is another country (not on the 'free'countries list). The country registered on the info for payment is where I am for the time being(ip address); though on the payment info I don't have the option to change to the correct country where the billing goes. Has anyone come across such? Any suggestions? Thank you. |
