Hi,

I've been using the inbound IAX termination for a while on my own * box with no problems Smile

I'm in the process of helping a friend set up an * box and I mentioned the voipuser forwarding service; he was keen to get set up.

I registered an account for him this morning and requested a 0870 number and then configured it as per my own existing numbers, e.g.:

IAX2/username:password@host.domain.com/08700123456 (obviously username/hostname/number changed...)

I created a [username] context in iax.conf and configured an 'exten => 08700123456,1,...' set of entries in extensions.conf; again, as per my own * box. When I initially failed to connect on the number, I realised I'd not opened UDP/4569 (Doh...), but after opening it I was still unable to dial the number from my mobile. When I review his firewall logs, I do not see any attempted connections to UDP/4569.

I then tried changing the forwarding to my UK PSTN number, which worked (hence making me think it must be a problem with his * box); however my next step was to forward the number to my own * box (I just copied the existing IAX2 string from my existing 08700 voipuser number
s); however this has made no difference, I still can't dial the number (I get the three-rising-tone unobtainable tone on my mobile). I wondered if there might be a network problem at the back-end, but if I dial any of my own voipuser 08xxx numbers, they all reach my * box fine.

In summary, it seems the 08700 number on the new account I've created will forward to a PSTN number fine, but it won't work with IAX, which I know sounds suspect...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris

This is how mine are set up

Code:

0844484xxxx points to IAX2/44870068xxxx:secret@ipaddress     in my numbers

iax.conf
[44870068xxxx]
type=user
username=44870068xxxx
secret=secret
context=default
disallow=all
allow=alaw
allow=ulaw

extensions.conf
exten => 44844484xxxx,1,Goto(fax,2401,1)

And this works fine, means you only need 1 entry in iax.conf for all numbers

Cheers Ian, I like the number idea for the username; I initially went for 'voipuser-in' to help me remember.

Having returned home this evening I found the redirect to my own * server had started working, so I wonder if I just need to give it a while to ripple through. I've set the forwarding entry back to the new * server and for now it's doing the same as earlier, but I'll check it again in the morning.

Regards,
Chris
