I tried to configure kphone for sipdiscount but I don't succeed.
What should I put for :
User Part of SIP URL ?
for example

Errrr ... Google? The first match is coming from this very site.

What else than kphone would you advise to use ?

X-lite or sjphone, preferrably X-lite. Although nothing matches a decent hardware solution.

I tried Kphone without much success. My favorite at present is X-lite as it runs well under Linux and Windows 98 (which I sometimes use to run Lotus Wordpro as that is what all my old files are in!). I know that SipDiscount, Mywebcalls, Voipuser, VBuzzer, Iconnecthere, Pulver FWD,Voxalot all work.

Sounds like you've not had a lot of luck with forums!

I don't want to drag this thread off-topic, but here we all do our best. I personally always try to respond to everyone, if I can answer the question posted.

There are good forums and there are bad forums. I think we do pretty well overall. The main objective here is to share information.

Well, about internetcalls, my account doesn't work anymore, it seems that the trial allow only
a certain number of free calls, then we have to buy credits (which I don't want).

I installed X-Lite and configured it with my sipdiscount account and my outgoing phone calls are working just fine.
But I tried incoming and I saw someone was calling, saw the number, picked up the call but then I wouldn't hear anything (and my peer neither).
More, it messed up my sound system, afterthis I couldn't play any sound, X-Lite wouldn't work (even in the menu, for sound devices I didn't had anymore the choice for /dev/dsp or others) and the "audio tuning wizard" wouldn't work anymore.
I managed to have sound again by runing alsaconf.

I don't know if it is a problem of my soundcard configuration (and I wouldn't know what to do or look at) or if it is a problem of my x-lite configuration.

If anyone have an idea what I should do or where I should try to look at...

Many PC's will suffer conflicts if you try to run different brands of softphones. If you are running a firewall like Zone alarm it could also cause problems. Best solution if you plan to use VOIP on a regular basis is to invest in a hardware solution. An ATA or IP Phone is best but even a simple USB phone may do the job for you as it has a basic sound card inside it that takes the load off your internal sound card.

How unreasonable of them to limit their free calls !! Wink

I've used both Linphone and, my personal favourite, Cornfed, with good success.

BTW Internetcalls have 40min in total of free calls per day, without paying the initial 10 Euro. After 40min the account is blocked from free calls until the next day.

Free Inbound number (selected countries only)

I reckon this is an option that one must make at least a EU$5 deposit?

I believe it's 10 EUR now, and inbound number is option only if you're registering from an IP address in the country they have DIDs to chose from.

Yesterday VOIPBuster (Internetcalls.com brother) started to charge for some calls that were free for 2 weeks. Yes, they updated the list in their homepage and removed some destinations...

Then today I ordered a 10 Euros recharge, and 6 hours later it has not been reflected in my account. Of course they charged my card...

I think that anybody considering spending (throwing) 10 Euros in Internetcalls.com should wait for a while.
