There is a re design on the website at ...

http://www.myvoipprovider.com

The South African operators or this site are anxious NOT to be viewed as yet another 'affiliate pushing' VOIP portal. As you know VOIPUSER is non commercial and cannot endorse the site. However it does contain some useful info and you should make up your own mind about it

gray, i found this site (for a long time already) more than useful. i can very well distinguish between the commercial aspect of a site, and the free part. if the free part gives me as much use and usefullness as MYVOIPPROVIDER does, i am clever enough to overlook the commercial or advertisement part that i just dont need. or may need some day.

please, when evaluating such services, give the VOIP user (two words) some credit for knowing what he wants and does.

when i signed up to VOIPuser (single word), i also started to get emailed (!) advertisements of dealers in the UK that used the board as a reference. am i angry at them? no, as longs as their missives remain reasonably seldom and both as informative as they are pushing certain items and services. i know where to draw the line, and when to put them on a spam list ...

back to MYVOIPPROVIDER:
does anybody know any good and quickly updated alternative to their search-a-country-connection-provider service?

greetings - heinz -

ok, one thing the MYPROVIDER people might consider: PAID or SPONSORED entries should be more clearly marked (color maybe?), and they should not appear with an actual ranking (like ''No. 1 ...'') attached to them. a ''--'' might be more appropriate. seeing the same No. 1 all the time, not being the best/cheapest/or serving that destination at all, defeats the purpose: even people who might normally check them out will learn to ignere them every quickly, and always.

Thanks Heinz. Point taken. We will change this in the next days.

g2v, you are not telling me that people from MYVOIPPROVIDER actually read this here? and listen?

then while i have a chance, and before you run away: when you mention/introduce a new provider in your NEWS section, and that one is not just hours, but weeks old, they should also appear in your searchable listing. example: the new german branch of our beloved BETAMAX/FINAREA friends.

and talking of them: the various FINAREA derivates change their free or almost free destinations very often, we all know by now. would it not make sense to doublecheck on that almost daily, specifically with those cases, rather than lagging a full week behind at times?

We try to read as much as possible and "listen" and are not planning to run away.

Not too sure what you mean with "old" news. VoIPStunt.com was added to our directory on the 29/12 and their latest creation Sparvoip.de on the 27/01.

We never expected the Betamax/Finerea group to change so many destinations within a week. Looks like we will have to keep tabs on them almost daily.

Any other comments -especially criticism- is more than welcome.

This is a part time project and one day we hope to be able to automate the call rates update, but until them please bare with us if we are a few days late or just send us an email.

well, i basically like your service, so keep up the good works, and thanks in advance for all the time you spend on it.

SPARVOIP was the one i was thinking about, didnt it start around xmas?

and yes, i had actually thought you already use a semi-automated update system: no normal person can anymore keep abreast of all the changes BETAMAX/FINAREA plays with. i guess thats their trick: in order to keep up with the free services, one has to register, re-register, register, re-register, and at 5 or 10 EUR each, thats great fun.

Hi Heinz!
I have used voipproviderslist as they separate providers by country but does anybody know any good and quickly updated alternative to their search-a-country-connection-provider service.

I see that once it was a great site. It is still my first port of call for reviewing providers but the rates are always wrong. I guess the updates are not so regular.

If you're still monitoring this forum then I would some feedback.

Did you check their top 100 "cheapest" providers?

<snip>SomeProvider</snip> is on <snip>20-somthing</snip> place while it's FAR AWAY cheaper the the top 10 on the list!

Why even mention this site?

There are pros and cons to each of these listing services, some are more comprehensive than others and some do a better job of updating their info.

We generally avoid overtly commercial offerings but feel that the 'average' Voipuser reader would prefer to know that a site exists and make up his or her own mind whether the information it contains is useful.

'Which provider should I use' is a very common question here and there can never be a correct answer. Any established site that lists many hundreds of providers geographically is therefore going to provide basic info to some readers.

If you do not feel a site we have mentioned provides accurate information then please both write to them and tell them why and send a copy to one of the admin team here.

Hi!

I don't know why, I posted a comment here, and I don't see it.

Just to say that xxxxxxxx gives an open source video / voice web application, I think is a good option.
