404 means the user could not be found or is offline. Is he able to make outbound calls with his grandstream ?

humm, I didnt know it could be offline - I thought 404 was just "unobtainable".

In that case - it could be a firewall issue - it might be possible to make an outbound call (connection initiated inside the network going out) but not get incoming calls (connection initiated by the voipuser.org server coming in).

Can you call his 0844 from a landline?

Thanks for the replies! I think I had too many questions Smile

Is the country for 0036 in the list of possible terminations for 0871?

Of course. If it weren't I couldn't make a forward to it.

If his outbound is working 100% and you are still having problems, please send me a private message with the usernames and the corresponding 0844 numbers and i'll have a look, but please double check again to make sure the outbound is working before you send me a private message.

He can use the outbound service for calling wired landlines. So both he and I can make outbound calls with our grandstream. I checked his original 0844 number again, but it did not work Sad See the exception in the next paragraph!

Both of us can be called on the 0844 number from a landline, but only the additionally requested 0844 (and 0870) numbers worked so far from a landline. The original 0844 numbers (we got automatically with registration) couldn't be called from landline nor peer-to-peer (or SIP-to-SIP), as it was said earlier in this thread. So I think there cannot be firewall problems, because we can not only call, but can be called.

It is said the latest beta firmware can log to a syslog server. I tought if nothing helps, I upgrade my Grandstream to that, but this is the last thing I want to do, because beta firmwares just have the risk of not being stable or cannot be downgraded.

Ahh - there you go then. If you can't call it from a landline or peer-to-peer then you must have a setup problem somewhere.

Hi!
We could call from landline, but couldn't call peer-to-peer. But this is now past!
I don't know what had happened, but today we could call each other peer-to-peer by dialing the original 0844 number. I did not change anything in my Grandstream setup, just changed my router (but this is almost the same as it was before).
So I can really say this whole system is working as I wanted, and what's more I can call landlines for free!
Thanks guys! You did great job!

I am a newbie. When I tried to call from my 0844 SIP account to a friend who also has 0844 SIP account and always got busy signals. Perhaps the way I dialed was wrong, i.e. 0844986xxxx#. Can anyone please help? Is there a help/FAQ explaining on how to dial other Voipuser or peer with other VoSP?

Just dial (to dial direct you can call them using username @ voipuser.org.

When dialling a number, remember that our gateway is located in the UK, so dial as if you were from the UK.

How do I key in alphabets in my cordless telephone keypad that is connected to my DLink DVG-1402S VoIP router?

I tried 00441844986xxxx# and/or 00440844986xxxx# to no avail, busy signals after couple of seconds dialing. BTW, these are the PSTN numbers. found on "My SIP Account". I also tried similarly with the phone numbers found on "My Number". Of course, those are my friends numbers I tried to call and no sense to call myself.

You need to dail just the 0844 number when try a direct SIP2SIP call. so it will only work if you dail 0844986xxxx

Also for this to work you both need to have proper portmaps and stun running if you are both behind a router.

Regards,

Tj
