| FireFury : | | Are there any authentication credentials provided by voipuser.co.uk when it makes an IAX2 connection so my PBX can be sure that it is really voipuser.co.uk making the connection? |
Hi FireFury,
I haven't tested this yet, but you should be able to add username@ to the IAX2 URI.

You know what would be really good.....if I could register my IAXy on the voipuser servers, and have my number forwarded to that... that means I only need to take that with me, where ever I go... it'd just eliminate an extra leg in the rtp journey
Any chance of this one?

Hello Andy,
We'd rather not do this as it would mean extra registration needs for every user.
Most users allready have an IAX SIP account. By offering people the option to set their own public destination (1700xxxxxxx@iaxtel.com, me@mysipprovider etc) there is no need for a registration, which most hardware phones only support one or two of anyways.
So to be short we won't be implementing this on a short term as there shouldn't be much need for it.
If you haven't got a registration with another provider, you could allways opt-in on a free Dynamic DNS service to keep a fixed hostname which you can use in your SIP or IAX URI.
Regards,
Tj |

I would be very interested. You are on to something that has the potential to make you a lot of money. You will need to make sure that your Internet connection is rock solid, but I would be interested in making a connectio and having a local number in the UK for my office there to contact our US offices without the telephone companies involved. |

We haven't managed to get this working yet - asterisk is rejecting the call. We have a context setup in iax.conf too. Are we missing anything? Do we perhaps need to setup a username/pass and then in mynumbers set it to IAX2/user:pass@asterisk server ? |

Hi Burtonhost,
Looks like your asterisk is a bit closed up there.
Try using guest@yourserver and make sure the guest account is setup in your iax.conf.
Let me know how you get on.

We don't have a guest account... can we specify user:pass@iax-server in the config here to pass, or just user@iax-server ?
Thanks |

Yes, create a voipuser entry in your conf file and set the termination option in the control panel here to voipuser@youserver.
We haven't actually tested sending passwords using :pass - Tj will try that in a bit although it should work. We are still in beta with this.
If you're experimenting with it now, the easiest thing to do is just to try it.

Hi TJ
I believe the guy here is playing with Asterix at the moment. You might want to send him an email inviting him to trial what you have.
Hi email is mark [at] cyberware.co.uk

Hello Tj,
I would be interested in testing the IAX2 termination with My Asterisk Box.
I singed up for a UK number and created the right iax.conf configuration.
But, when I dial the number (requested), it says that it is no longer in service.
Appreciate any info on the missing steps.

Hi Aym,
Any chance you could post your config so i can have a look at it for you ?
Also can you let me know what you setup in the control panel ?
Kind regards,
Tj |

Hi Borodark,
99.99% of the time this is user error..... so worth double-checking your settings.
Also check that you can do with the 0844 what you're trying to do with it (list of available termination options per number type are in the control panel).
If after that you still can't understand why it doesn't work, drop me a PM with the number.

I was not clear in the first post: problem is that "Number is not in service..." for 0844.... I have deleted one, added another and get the same message when I dial it as 01144844.... from PSTN or VOIP or +44844... from mobile.
It goes through for 0870... |
