It seems their telco announce it is a wrong format.
I suppose this prefix 0844 was not recognise as a valid

Hi Rampa and welcome to the forum

Always a good idea to read the FAQ's before posting Wink

There is a 72hr delay for new accounts.

OK - I'm a newbie - and the learning curve still seems steep.

I admit that I don't understand some of what the FAQs say because I don't understand the jargon.

Currently I'm trying to get X-lite to work ...behind our Linksys router that does NAT. So far I have been trying without enabling the ports listed - but I have set the Stun to stun.voipuser.org

I thought that the whole ideal of stun was to allow it work transparently behing a NAT router without any changes on the router. Am I correct? (or what Im saying is that I can't get it to dial out (408 timeouts) nor dial in from PSTN.

Hurray!

Got it to work - using STUN - didn't have to enable any ports on the firewall (so I suppose they open when I initiate a session).

Amazing stuff. I suppose Telcos will just raise the price of
Internet connections by 10 quid a month when they realise that there will be no revenue from renting telephone lines.

Glad to hear you got it working - well done and welcome to the wonderful world of VOIP.

The assumption is that VOIP will become another 'included' application just like Email, with plenty of ISP's to choose from I dont think any will dare to charge a premium just because you are using VOIP ! Would you use an ISP that charged you extra for using email ? Wink

Hi all,

After long time missing, I finally start testing my VoIPuser
account and here what happens on my side:
I am behind a NAT and all necessary ports forwarding are done as explained in the first post in this thread.
Fortunately the testports.exe program shows me green(OK) on all 3478, 8000 and 8001 ports, but NOT on 5060 (red). As a result using X-Lite I cannot connect to my account at voipuser.org Sad(( Is it possible that this main port(5060) can be blocked by my ISP(which is actually the local telco monopoly) in order to prevent me using SIP for VoIP and thus saving money??? I already heard that in some countries, like UAE, they already are blocking Skype port for stopping VoIP. Since I am based in Tunisia, where the monopoly of telco is also a monopoly of all ISP, I start thinking that port 5060 is already blocked. So, what I need is to check whether this is the real reason for my problems, or something else.
Any idea how to bypass this deadlock?
Can I use another port number to connect to sip.voipuser.org ?

Hi Marc

Sorry to hear you are completely stuck but so are we. Without any idea of what equipment you are trying to connect, your type of connection, firewall info, ports check results, where you are based and what you have tried so far it is not possible to offer any kind of suggestion.

Please post as much detail as you can and someone will help for sure

I'm locking this thread as it's getting too long to really be useful.

If you have a problem with X-Lite setup for VoIP User, please start another thread in the outbound support forum.

As Gray mentions, we really need as much info as possible to help you out.
