I reckon Voiptalk to be the best of my suppliers with the support staff being particularly helpful.

I connect to them from my AAH (Trixbox) using IAX and I have never seen it down. I use it less than others because their call charges are higher than Sipgate and Sipdiscount, but it is a very reliable backup for when the other two aren't performing.

In terms of customer service: I purchased my Grandstream AT286 from them and when it packed up 6 months later they replaced it with no problems.

Frankly if you are a commercial organisation the greater reliability of this service probably outweighs the extra call costs

Babble have been around for a couple of years which makes them a long term player in VOIP terms. Voice quality is going to depend more on what equipment you are using at your end and the quality of your internet connection.

From a personal point of view I have been using them myself for a while without any problems, their customer service department definitely do a good job and their payment structure is secure. Since they don't offer 'tie in' contracts like Vonage there is very little to lose from giving them a try.

Tesco Internet Phone

Company Background: UK supermarket behemoth who sell a service provided for them by Freshtel. As far as I can tell, as Freshtel don't offer a service directly in the UK, this is the only way to use them.

Tesco offer inbound and outbound PSTN services, with choice of a free UK geographic phone number (from an incomplete but fairly comprehensive selection). Not the easiest of services to sign up for (complete pain actually) but works well once done, and the UK Anytime package seems a fairly good deal for those wanting a simple SOHO second line via VoIP (my use case). Customer service helpful and friendly but based in India, so can be heavily accented.

Allocation of an 0870 number: N/A
Allocation of an 0845 number: N/A
Allocation of UK geographic number: Free
Incoming calls from PSTN: Free (caller pays normal PSTN rates)
Monthly Subscription: either Free (with PAYG for outbound PSTN calls) or various packages that include "unlimited" calls (subject to a fair use clause) to various territories.
Outgoing calls to another VoIP/SIP user: Calls to other Tesco Internet Phones are free
Outgoing calls to PSTN: pre-pay credit required, or to have registered a credit card / direct debit mandate. Rates seem reasonable: 2p/min in UK, 1.7p/min to top 30 international destinations. Non-geographic terminations are obviously much more expensive. See http://www.tescointernetphone.com/about/rates for details.

I am utterly horrified by Tesco already being in this market. I'm sure we'll be buying our air from them before long.

Why? It makes perfect sense. One of the biggest overheads of setting up a VOIP company is marketing. With a prospective audience the size of the Tesco client base it's a no brainer.
