A bit of feedback on line quality would be really handy for us at this time.

Very good, good, bad, terrible?

Obviously reports of poor sound are more useful, but handy to know if you find it good, so please let us know.

We rely on feedback in order to improve services, so it all helps.

Thanks,

Dean

I have used the international call forwarding service a couple of times (only for the UK as an experiment) and found the sound quality quite acceptable. A little duller than normal landline but no digital artifacts. Still better than using a mobile.

Hope this helps, keep up the good work

Regards

Dave

Hi,

I was experiencing some issues with my normal voip provider, so temporarily switched over to using voipuser for outbound for a couple of days. As far as I can tell, the call quality can't be faulted when making local calls.

I even noticed that my regular BT line ( Twisted Evil ) has a background hum. Something I've not noticed before since most of my calls are through voip these days.

Voipuser rocks!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info - can you send me a PM with the number that you dialled so I can run a trace?

Today I've experienced a weird problem. I called to a PSTN number, and heard another voice in the line. The callee didn't hear the voice, he said quality was nice.

Sound quality was terrible, btw.

It is the first time this thing happens to me. Sound quality is usually fine for outbound calls (same quality as other voip services I've tried), and perfect for inbound calls redirected to a PSTN number (haven't tried redirecting to SIP or IAX).

Thanks for the info. Could you do me a favour and PM me the number dialled (don't worry if you'd prefer not to)?

I can then look into it, although this sounds to me like one of those things that might be impossible to trace, as it's very very rare. Might not have been a problem at our end, but I'd like to take a look just in case.

Thanks,

Dean

I've been using voipuser to call the US (I'm in Canada), and in comparison to 3 other sip services I've tried (sipphone, babble, glophone), it is clearly the best one, based on what I could hear, and on the comments of the people I called.

All of them are better than Skype.

I don't agree. The Skype have the best voice quality.

Voip better quality:

1) Skype
2) All others Sips

Peer to peer it will - they use a high bandwidth codec.

Just some further data points.

Outgoing call to Birmingham: voice quality pretty good each way, with only rare breakup requiring one end or other to say "pardon".

Incoming call from mobile phone - speech quality degraded more by mobile service than by VOIP, as far as I can tell.

In general, breakup seems to happen more on received speech than sent speech (or maybe my callees just can't be bothered to listen to what I am saying! Smile)

I am very satisfied with voice quality! I mean voice can be heard clearly, and there's no big delay. When I use the loudspeaker on my phone there are some echoes, but it is because it has no echo cancelation.

At the beginning of many of my outbound landline calls (to Hungary) I cannot hear the ringing, just the first human voice from the other side. It's a bit disturbing, but can live with.

I experienced some staccato in outbound calls when starting to talk to a landline. But it is over after 2-3 seconds. Anyway it can be much worse talking on a mobile, especially in a moving car. Long and the short of it I find voice quality cool.

Do you see how much of the Internet bandwidth skype eats each time you communicate with a partner? I am happy with the G.723.1 CoDec mainly because it only eats up about 2KBps/stream and the audio quality is good, above mediocre.

I was talking with my friend in France yesterday evening and we tried an experiment.

We spoke directly using our voipuser accounts ie SIP all the way and the voice quality was woolly.

I phoned his landline from voipuser and voice quality was fine.

He also phoned my landline from voipuser and voice quality was fine.

We would like to be able to make direct SIP calls as he will not be using his UK number for I/C calls and would like to not take from the pot.

Any tips? Cool

Hope this is of help

Mark
