VoIP User Echo Test Server

Is it not working when you dial it?

My fritz gets a 404 if I include the IDD and country code (i.e., 0044 844 986 3246) and reaches the echo test when I omit IDD/cc and just dial 0844 986 3246.

Cheers,
Klaus.

That's the correct way to dial it (without the international codes).

When we alias numbers to SIP accounts we only store it in that format.

Why not enable both? The Community Pool page at http://www.voipuser.org/forum_topic_328.html says »When dialling out, you need to use the full international code standard. For example, dialling a UK number of 01234 567890 you would dial 00 44 1234 567890«, and rather than having to keep track of which 0844-numbers belong to VoIPuser, it would IMHO be easier to remember to always use international codes whenever dialling (and easier to set up to be done automatically by UAs without elaborate dialplans).

Cheers,
Klaus.

I agree it would probably be easier, but the reason we don't do it is due to the existing database structure which is very hard to change without altering quite a few other things.

It is something that we did consider, but had to rule it out. Sometimes it's a case of juggling time, and deciding what things are really important to do and things that are only moderately important to do... Wink

The only 0844 numbers that can be dialled from VoIP User are VoIP User allocated 0844 numbers.

I get a Call Failed: 408 Timeout.

I am calling from Canada using X-Lite. I tried 011-844-986 3246 and just 0844 986 3246 but no luck.

Might be problems on my NAT. Will confgure it using info from here
http://www.voipuser.org/forum_topic_322.html

Will try it again. Glad to know the service is still up.

I am setting up an Asterisk server. Once I can connect to your server, then if I cannot connect to my server. I can confirm the problem is on my server's end but not on the client.

Thanks.

I attempted to call the nice echo lady (0844 986 324 from Newfoundland) several times last night on a friends system that was giving trouble. It seems that she takes a tea break rather frequently. Although the phone is picked up there is no sound (using X-lite). When there was an audio reply it was working just fine. Still, it did allow me to find the problem (audio drivers and too many CD players interacting) and cure it.

Is there a problem at the voipuser end?

Hi All

She seems fine, If she is taking breaks, We will dock her wages Wink. But seriously, What may be happening with international calls is, If you hear her greating then no echo, the echo cancelers that the telco has in place may be taking out the echo thinking its "echo". I have had this problem with mobiles, which have a lot of echo cancelers in circuit.

No problems as far as I am aware, but we can take a look at it.

Everytime I've called it, it's worked fine. I'll ask Ian.

Hi, I tried those numbers, but they don`t work, so for to do a test call I had to call my home phone number only for to find out I it hears me and if I hear it. then hanged up. why those test numbers don`t work? cause they are free.

Working fine ilanesh - I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. Could be a mis-configuration of your softphone or perhaps you are mis-dialling?

Hi Richard and welcome to VoIP User.

Yes.

Why do you ask? Is it not working when you dial it?

Echo test does`not work.
Some times I can speak normally , but others I can^t hear to the person I call. They can hear me.

Hi Victor,

The "One way audio fault finder" thread in the FAQ section is the one you need to read.

The ECHO test server is offline while we're rebuilding it I'm afraid....

If you port forwarded correctly, and it's not working consitently, then something is either wrong with your forwarding, or your router.
