We've been beta-testing this for a while, everything seems to be working OK so we've made it live. Any problems, please let us know.
In short, what we wanted to achieve was maximum user-configurability coupled with ease of use. These two things are not always easy to achieve hand in hand. With lots of options comes complexity. This is our best effort at marrying the two together.
Every user now has the voicemail to e-mail service. Any voice messages will be sent to the email address you registered at the site with (you can change it at any time by clicking on the "My Account" link).
Each number also now has two destination options. Destination One is attempted first. If that call is not answered within 20 seconds it diverts to Destination Two, with the final option being voicemail if selected.
You'll see the new control panel when you click on the usual
My Numbers link and go to edit a number.
Here's how it works.
Termination Options
This is divided into three seperate columns and organised by time of day. Once you have set your two destination options, you can set here the termination priority for each time zone. Time zones are calculated (at the moment) in GMT.
Example settings:-
In practice what will happen is, during the day, anyone phoning this number will be routed to Destination 1 (set below). If that is not answered, voicemail will take the call.
During the evening, the Destination 1 phone will ring for up to 20 seconds then divert to Destination 2.
At weekends, only the Destination 1 phone will ring for 20 seconds, if not answered the call will be re-forwarded to the Destination 2 phone which will ring for a further 20 seconds before finally terminating to voicemail.
If Primary Termination is set to a SIP URI, and that SIP URI is for any reason unreachable, the Secondary Termination will be used instead.
If the Secondary Termination is a SIP URI and unreachable, and the voicemail option is selected, then the caller will be diverted to voicemail.
Destination Options
This is where each of the Destination One and Destination Two options referred to in the above panel are set.
Each destination has three options - SIP, AIX or PSTN termination. Pick an option using the radio button and enter either a SIP URI, IAX URI or PSTN landline number accordingly.
Example Settings:-
Here Destination One has been set to a PSTN number phone, with Destination Two going to an IAX2 exchange.
Clicking either of the two submit buttons will update any settings you have changed in the control panel.
Have a play around and let us know what you think. Some feedback at this point would be really helpful.....
Thanks,
