tjardick :
Anyone knows about a SIMPLE IM client apart from microsoft windows messenger ?

Hi Tj,

I think that FWD have an IM client that does all of this, but haven't really tried it since beta testing. More details here

I have been a part of the FWD beta, and have not been overly impressed. I am waiting for this to be broadly available and gateway independent:

I've got the tool of FWD installed yesterday.

It does a nice job in integration IM with SIP but it doesn't 'feel' as a ncie app.

But maybe that's just cosmetics... Allthough it seems quite slow from time to time in bringing up setting screens etc. etc.

And they forgot Jabber support Smile

I've seen PhoneGaim, but as daily work still passes on windows here and not in linux (still some apps i need on windows) it's not much use to me yet.

So i guess the search has to continue still...

It seems they've released a version for windows.

I tried it the other day (I finally found Debian packages) and it looks nice (disclaimer: I didn't call anyone, just took a look at the interface), but I was expecting something like SIP accounts just like jabber/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo!/... accounts, i.e: you could add contacts (a phone number or a SIP addres) to your SIP account and chat and talk to them.

Me too. But Phonegaim is developed by Linspire, whose owner is also SipPhone's owner, so I don't think we'll see this feature (not soon, at least).
