HI

With SIP X how can I use my VoIP provider just for outbound calls. Would I need an external gateway such as Quintum?

If so how do you connect the gateway to the SIP X Server?

Cheers

Columbo - you can use sipx for outbound calls in two ways. either use a gateway with sipX - Quintum works, but may have some issues. sipX has been thoroughly tested with gateways from Vegastream, Mediatrix, AudioCodes and Cisco. Alternatively, you can connect directly to the VoIP carrier if they support access control lists. For gateway configuration information see the wiki (http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php/Special:Search?search=gateway&go=Go)

Another alternative is you can setup Asterix and use it as the gateway that connects directly to your VoIP provider. Asterisx is a B2BUA (Back-to-Back User Agent) which makes it work well with connecting directly to outbound VoIP provider (such as Vonage, etc.).

Does anyone know know how I can contect to my VOIP service provider (PSTN -> SIP.thirdparty.com) under the latest SipXpbx V3.4 or even v3.2. I though it was now possible to install and manage a Back-to-Back User Agent on the same box. Surely this must be a basic consideration for a scaling PBX solution, especially as dedicated lines and hardware carry such a high capital investment which is hard to justifed in the early months.

Many thanks

I have setup a machine with sipx 3.4.
Internal calls are working and voicemail as well.
But for outbound calls , it is kind weired cause i call my cell phone it rings but my polycom 501 hangs right away while my cell
phone is still ringing.
so does any body experience this before? my provider are using IP access-lists, so i know that is my side problem since i can ring my cell phone and not on my ip phone.
By the way i am using linksys router.

THANKS

Does anyone have anything further on this? I've just set up sipx v3.8 and have soft phones working well between the internal users, but can see no way to configure sipx to use MyNetFone account from making outbound calls using a VOIP connection.

Surely it would be pretty basic function for a SIP package?

I have a Dlink DVA-G3340S VOIP ADSL router. Is there a way to configure sipx to use the outgoing VOIP connections on this router if SIPx lacks the functionality to use a VOIP provider?
