Hello VoIP people
Has anyone managed to configure a Zoom X5v router to work with Sipgate?
I've entered what seem to be the correct settings on the router (see below), but with no apparent effect: incoming calls say that the number is not available, and outgoing calls (i.e. dialing #) gives no dial tone.
My settings in the X5v's VoIP screen are:
/ Enable VoIP
/ Enable SIP Registration
Auto Account Configure
User ID: 1234567
Authorization ID: 1234567
Password: xxxxx
Display Name: MyName
Domain/Realm: sipgate.co.uk
SIP Registrar Port: 5060
SIP Proxy Address: sipgate.co.uk
SIP Proxy Port: 5060
Outbound Proxy Address: sipgate.co.uk
Outbound Proxy Port: 5060
SIP Registration Interval: 3600
Authentication Method: Auth_MD5
Local SIP Port: 5060
RTP Media Port: 5000
Caller ID Modulation: CID_V23
Select Ring & Tone by Country/Region: UK - VoIP
Codec Preferences: 1. G.711u 2. G.729 3. G.711a
cheers

Hi ChrisDeniis,
Welcome to VoIPUser. I don't have Zoom X5v router; however, I have another DLink DVG-1402S VoIP router currently configured and is working with SIPGate. On any of my DVG-1402S devices, regardless if their setup is working or not, I do hear the dial tone on each phone attched to it; however, I can attest that the only time I hear no dial tone is when the router is not booting properly. So, you might want to save a copy of your SIPGate setup and turn off/on your router (give it at least 3 minutes). If the problem still persists, you may want do a factory reset. Once the router boots back before reloading your SIPGate setup, chances are you can hear the dial tone when you pick up the phone attached to the RJ-11 port of the router. If so, then try to reload the SIPGate setup to see if that will do. Otherwise, you may have a defect and/or misconfigure ATA part on your router. At any rate and from what I read on your post and compared to my DVG config menu, your configuration looks good to me although you might want to reduce the SIP Registration Interval: to 1800.
Can you please tell us how you connect your Zoom X5v router to your internet feed? Do you connect it directly to the modem or behind another router? If you connect directly to your internet feed, does your ISP assign the router with a public IP address? |

Hello Mazilo
Thanks for your quick reply.
The X5v (model 5565) comes preconfigured with a GlobalVillage SIP configuration which worked fine, but I'm already signed up with Sipgate and want to use that.
With the factory defaults, using # to connect to VoIP works fine (via GlobalVillage), so I don't think there's a problem with the X5v itself. Power-cycling it doesn't help.
Unlike the X3 (I believe), the X5v includes an ADSL modem, so it is connected directly to the ADSL phone line. It has its own NAT and firewall, so that shouldn't be getting in the way. I also have a static IP if that makes any difference.
I'm waiting for Sipgate's help desk to respond, so if they come up with any tips, I'll post them here.
cheers

Following up on my previous post...
It's working!
I think Mazilo was right with his suggestion about turning the router off and on, although that was only part of the problem.
I had previously been using linphone - a Linux application for VoIP - before I installed the X5v, and that had grabbed the sipgate registration on port 5060. Stopping that application wasn't enough - I had to turn off my PC to let the X5v regain the opportunity to register itself with sipgate.
So, to summarize: the Zoom X5v works fine with sipgate. The settings I'm using are as in my first post, with the exception of:
SIP Registration Interval: 900
RTP Media Port: 5004
The router has been power cycled after saving those settings and doing the flash-reboot thing.
All PC applications that do VoIP have been stopped, and the PC restarted.
And now it works: I can dial in on my sipgate number (an 0845 one), and I can dial out to my mobile by prefixing the number with # (although I won't, because that's expensive...)
cheers

The problem ChrisDennis mentioned about the port being used by software on the PC was exactly the same problem I had. I had Xten Lite running on the PC which was causing a problem with the Zoom X5v, I exited the software, rebooted the X5v and it worked straight away.
Calls take around 10 seconds to place, I'm used to this on the softphone, but was expecting a bit speedier through the X5v, does anyone else have this issue? That's placing calls to landline phones using sipgate.co.uk.
Quality is top notch though!

I purchased a Zoom X5v because my BudgeTone BT101 stop working (after 3 months of working ok). I thought it was a faulty phone.
I can connect fine to Global Village but still cannot get my Sipgate account working, even with the previous posts.
In the basic settings there are number of settings including Server & Filename and check boxes Encryption & Voip only mode - do these matter if using advanced options?
In advanced options does Auto Account Configuration needs to be checked or not? Also can anyone confirm the following mappings please:
Zoom User Id = Sipgate SIP-ID
Zoom Authorisation Id = Sipgate SIP-ID
Zoom Password = Sipgate SIP-Password
Zoom Display Name = Sipgate Username (I am not sure this setting is important?)
Zoom RTP Media Port = 5004 (default appears to be 5000)
Zoom SipRegistration Interval = 900 (reduced from 3600 default) |

Hi Mike_F and Siwel_Nerrad,
Welcome to VoIPUser forums.
In order to know what caused the problems you both have encountered, I really need to know more on how you setup your device. Please read this FAQ and follow the direction on the FAQ. That way, anyone who has some knowledge will be able to spot the culprits that cause the problems. |

I had previously a Grandstream ATA 486, which worked very well, but I fancied the Zoom x5v which combined everything in one box. I sold the 486 and My Zoom x5v arrived today. I have got it mostly working this evening, thanks to Grumpyfox's review which helps a lot.
I have one problem. When testing with Sipgate and VOIPUser, the old dect phone which I was using, did not ring on VOIP, nor did any lights flash onthe Zoom x5v. I was a bit preplexed as an incoming call on the Grandstream caused it to flash and the old dect phone rang. (It also rang when plugged into my normal BT Line.)
I could call the voip PSTN number using VOIPCheap and if I picked up the dect phone when VOIPCheap said it was ringing I could talk to myself! So the basic system was working.
Zoom's helpline was very helpful and after checking various settings, suggested that I tried another phone. I did this and used a very basic Binatone which rang correctly.
Anyway I now have a working system.
BTW Zoom's helpline from the UK is a dreaded 0870 number, but the european helpline is 01252580625, which is much cheaper to call (on 1899.com)
Setting up the DCHP rang is a little obscure as Grumpgfox comments. Like most routers you have to set up the DCHP range. Unlike most routers you also have to select (in the dropdown box above the DCHP range) User Defined and not System Allocated.
I think I'll try setting up the Zoom x5v for SipDiscount next. |

Hi xprezons,
Welcome to VoIPUser forum.
I just noticed from the OP and your posts above where both of you had enabled to use an Outboudn Proxy option. IIRC, an Outbound Proxy is only used for any ATA devices that is connected behind a symmetrical router. Since you have a VoIP router and it is connected directly to your ISP to get a public IP address, this option becomes a redundant. I believe if you disable the Outbound Proxy option, your VoIP will still function properly. |
