| I need help. which software is best for india and how to i go about it. I understand its free. |
Greetings Salakhan and welcome to the forum
Its a job to know where to begin as there is a lot you need to read up on here on the site. There are a lot of detailed resources and explanations for all those beginning their VOIP experience.
I could give you a simple answer and say load 'Xlite' which is indeed free programme - if your colleagues in India also have broadband and a Voip software phone like Xlite, then you can speak to each other for free. You could also take a look at Skype (www.skype.com) again a free programme, again offering free calls between users. Then there are hardware solutions involving specific Voip devices.
It's only fair to make the point that calls will only be 'free' if both ends of the conversation are connected to broadband and are running a 'VOIP' application or Voip hardware. (In the case of Skype they will both have to be Skype compatible)
Two years ago there was minimum choice and since that time VOIP has become a big subject - it's not possible to summarise all the possibilities in a single posting like this and not necessary either as all the information you need to get started is in other postings and FAQ's here on the site.
Good luck with your reading and please come back to us with specific problems when you have been through the resources here.
