Hi everybody,

I have a question about voicemail greeting. Just before leaving the voicemail, by the greeting message the extension name is said. But my extension names contain letters also so i cannot hear the letter field.

to be clear, in my extensions.conf

exten => test2,1,Dial(SIP/test2,20)
exten => test2,n,Voicemail(test2,u)
exten => test2,n,Hangup()

and the asterisk console creates a message as;

Executing [test2@default:2] VoiceMail("SIP/test1-00000017", "test2,u") in new stack
-- <SIP/test1-00000017> Playing 'vm-theperson.gsm' (language 'en')
-- <SIP/test1-00000017> Playing 'digits/2.gsm' (language 'en')
-- <SIP/test1-00000017> Playing 'vm-isunavail.gsm' (language 'en')
-- <SIP/test1-00000017> Playing 'vm-intro.gsm' (language 'en')
-- <SIP/test1-00000017> Playing 'beep.gsm' (language 'en')

it plays just only the digit:2 not the "test" field.

Thus does anyone know how to play the letter fields in the greeting.

Hi

You have 2 options really,

1, use numeric extensions.
2. log in and record greeetings.

option 1 is the real answer as how is a user going to loginto the mailbox to get messages.

I cannot use the numeric extensions it is a little compicated.
The voicemail system will work as just leaving the voicemail and send the voicemail record to the users e-mail at that moment.

Thanks by the way.

can you check if it is possible for u to play the .gsm files available for letters. in the sound files..

If not you can record your personal greeting and let the recording with the name play in the script..
