Microsoft Windows™ users who want to deploy the popular Asterisk open source PBX system finally have a solution — sort of.

N2Net, a provider of mission critical communication hosting, announce the immediate availability of AstWind, a package allowing users of several Windows platform to run Asterisk, but only as a Voice over IP application.

"AstWind allows Windows users to safely install and test the Asterisk PBX with the click of a button." said Gregory Boehnlein, Vice President of N2Net. "Prospective users can test the software and become familiar with it before deploying a full Linux system. Developers can maintain multiple environments for testing and PBX Administrators can create disaster recovery plans to backup existing installations."

Nice find. I'll probably give it a go over the next few weeks.

hello everyone... i tried this asterisk for windows.. and for a couple of days of late night sleep i manage to connect it to windows network...

once it connected it automatically update its file.. (updating asterisk with new CVSroot as well its debian base linux system...) now my problem is this:

i tried to dial using its console by dialing "dial 500" (500 is connecting to digium.com directory) but it said there no such command dial.. but when i tried this command on redhat9 running also asterisk it accept this command and dial the number....

is there any specific command for debian linux? i mean for asterisk running on diffirent O/S software? if there is, anyone can point me out where is it?

secondly, is astwind capable to dial using its console?

i can register my fwd number through astwind but it looks like there is no way that you can dial out using its console...

i tried to make an account and configure it on my x-pro but no success either it dont register.. it looks like the connection is only one way..

i will tried more tweaking on it and some more late night sleep.. maybe the problem is on my sip.conf and on my extensions.conf as well need to check on my networking... in any case someone can point me out where i can i have some example of sip and extensions.conf it will be very helpful.. sorry guys i am zero knowledge on Linux.... Wink only now i tried to play with it......

its me,

Neo

As far as I remember the missing dial command on asterisk CLI is caused by a missing sound device /dev/dsp....

Hope this helps

are you refferring my audio hardware? or just the configuration on asterisk itself? if that's so then how can i configured it... what command i have to enter so it can recognized my sound hardware which Windows Xp is using? do you think there will be a way for it to be configured to Astwind even Windows Xp already using it?

same as they sharing my internet connection.. can they share hardware too without a conflict to each other?

its me,

Hi Neo,

Good to see you here (your posts on the FWD forum have been very helpful in the past).

As far as I know there are some issues with using sound hardware on coLinux. You'll need to check the coLinux wiki for more guidance on this.

I have installed Asterisk on coLinux running Gentoo (on XP Pro SP2), but to be honest haven't really had time to set it up properly and check if I can make calls with it yet... it's still on my list of things to do

thanks buddy... im glad i found this forum and get entagle with the pro's same as you... im checking that site from to time to have some update on this Astwind.. i need a lot of reading and as well experimentation on this.. its not so easy for me for i am only a windoz user.. and this kind of thing is a really a crackling nut on my head... but i know with a lot of source users same as you guys i think this project will come out on its chest and run as it should be.... for the meantime need to familiarize myself how this Debian Linux and this Asterisk entangle with each other in Windows O/S....

its me,
