This is a cross-section of just over 3,500 users.

Hi Dean,
Can that
unknown entry on your list be the DLink DVG-1402S VoIP router?

Or Intertex device ? IX66/IX67 ?

Hi Guys - could be either, or actually thinking about it, probably a combination of several phones. We really can't tell as they are presenting the server with a blank user-agent.

I'm also looking at adding a way to merge the versions so that we can have maybe a top 50 and then per type a list of firmware/versions.
But at least is shows we have a lot of asterisk users
I also was surprised to see that we had quite a few draytek users, seems their hardware is doing well.

And by the looks of it most of them need to update their firmware?!

Particularly, ATA devices made by DLink, i.e. DVG-1402S VoIP router. The current firmware is too buggy to mention. Not to mention DLink has already pulled out its DVG-1120S/M device from the market circulation.

"CSCO/7" is the Cisco 7940/60 phone.

The stats are intersting.... The asterisk connections of course "mask" the hardware or software clients that people are actually using but it's interesting that asterisk tops the list (just shows us lot on here are a tad more techie than perhaps we need to be!!!).
Did it take you lots to extract & format this data -- or is it something that you intend putting up as a "live" statistic?

I think at the moment VoIP is still in the realms of the techie. It's not quite consumer enough - and I think the stats reflect that. It will be interesting to see changes in that list over a period of time.

It took a while to put the basic queries together, but now that we have those, we can run them at any time and post updates. Yes we will be doing that. Not as a real-time "live" thing though - much as that would be very cool, we have to consider load on the database server.
Current line of thinking is to have a script run at an off-peak time when database load is low (e.g. 4am every day GMT) and collate the data.
I'm currently working on an application that will run on the server and can make automated posts to the forum. That can be pulled into service to do this - so script runs and collates information, application runs at 9am every day (or week or once a month etc) and posts the data in a pre-determined format on the forum. Automation is good wherever possible as Tj and I would rather spend our time doing new things and improving old ones, fixing bugs etc. This sort of thing is an ideal candidate for automation, much like most of the things we do here generally become.
The app. that does the posts has some bugs (the main one being that it doesn't actually work lol), so not quite there yet, but I'll be working on it this weekend.
On the useragent stats I've also built a new database that collates user-agent names. That way we can consolidate user-agents where we currently have (in the above list for example) several of the same separately listed due to different firmware versions being present. That'll take a little while to populate, but it will give better results overall.
Incidentally, while I think of it, does anyone here know of a (open-source/freeware) application that can take an SQL query (or comma-delimited data file) and produce bar graphs, pie charts etc?

Maybe some of them are made by Firefox software?

Hi Petronius,
Welcome to the VoIPUser forum.
I reckon the new list will certainly show an influx of Linksys PAP2 users as time goes.

Is it possible to get a full list of the User-Agent names observed or do you know where I could obtain a list.
I'm writing a VoIP auditing and vulnerability tool and it would be really useful to get a list of User-Agent: names used by phones.

I might be interesting to see an updated version of this.

OK, will do - give me a couple of days. Need to dig up my original script (on the server somewhere).
