Hello Smile

I'm going to be setting up a PBX (trixbox) for a company I work for, and I have some primary question, which is probably so simple, I wasn't able to find any information on it in trixbox2 without tears

If we get sip service (a incoming phone number? -- I guess), if we get multiple people calling in on that number, it will transfer them to non-busy phones right? (assuming the pbx is configured to) I mean, they wont' get a busy signal, right? I've actually researched all the detailed configurations, dial patterns, FXO/FXS, but theres some real basic stuff I'm not sure about

and also, we already have a lan line (and the number on all our business cards), is there any way to automatically transfer calls from the lan line to the sip number (would this be with the sip service, or a pbx configuration)

thanks

Sure it will do that as long as the sip provider allows more than 1 concurrent call.

You should do yourself and your boss a favour and set it up on a old box to mess around with or even vmware, have a look through all the options and read a few guides it will become much clearer. The sky is pretty much the limit apart from a few quirks.

Getting the land line forwarded to your sip number will depend on your provider, although on second reading I'm not sure what you really want to achieve. You realise you can connect your land line to trixbox ?

Is it common for sip providers to do so? does it cost extra commonly?

I have setup trixbox2 before for testing. Using softphones basically. I have knowledge of quite a bit of networking (our router is PFsense, I setup from scratch, made some nice rules, etc, etc). I've been through trixbox2 without tears a bit. My big thing was dial patterens. With PHP experience I've I understood regular expressions and pattern matching, but I coulden't find a tutorial to give me the key characters in the patterns and what they mean until I got tb2 wo tears.

Yes, I know I can get an FXO card to connect the land line. But if we get a call I want it to redirect immediately to VOIP so if someone else calls, they won't get a busy signal on the land line, and be re-directed to the next available free VOIP hard/soft phone. This way we can keep the number on all the business cards we've printed out, and still get rid of the busy signal thing
