Hi,

I am working with asterisk and trying to setup a demo system for myself to get more familiar with asterisk system..

Scenario:

I want my UK friend to connect to my server in US via softphone and then be able to use my landline to call any number in US, and i want to be able to connect to my server using softphone and then call any UK number using the UK vonage device that i already have.

Please advice what solution i need? what kind of VOIP hardware i will require in this scenario. And what asterisk system should be used to achieve it. Can i use trixbox or asterisk@home?

Can i buy used VOIP hardware?
Is trixbox equipped to handle 100-200 users in future?

Thanks and regards.

What is the vonage device ? as to the US end you need a fxo card such as a TDM400 or a x100p if you want to be realy cheap.

Asterisk@home is Trixbox, But in answer, any version of Asterisk will do what you want.

Hmm big difference between 100 and 200 users, 100 users yes 200 not realy, Asterisk its self could cope.

Vonage give its users a Voip device that connects to your dsl. and you from that device regular telephone cables goes into your phone.

So i guess i will need 2 port FXO card? One for US landline and One for UK vonage line and if i am using soft phones do i need any FXS ports on the card?

Thanks for the reply.
