Setting up Cisco 7960 without Call Manager

I was recently bought a Cisco 7960 IP phone for my home office. Unfortunately i know nothing about VoIP. Now as it turns out this was a spare unit, and as such i dont have the Call Manager and am rather lost with the setup. The phone just says "Configuring IP".

The phone is hooked up to a Netgear DG834G, and i have a voiptalk.org account, which requires SIP

If someone could talk me through the process i would appreciate it

Luckily you are not the first to do this Please do a forum search for Cisco 7960 or Cisco 7940 (Same setup) and use the many resources already on Voipuser. It's a fairly complicated procedure and not for the faint hearted. If this is your first VOIP experience it's a bit like buying a Ferrari to pass your driving test in !

I would strongly suggest firstly setting up a Voipuser account in XLite on a PC just to get a feeling for the terminology and what is going on.
