Hiya Folks
I have been playing with voip for a while , mainly just for the fun of it but multiple lines would be useful for tracking marketing in long run !
So i splashed on a Grandstream 2020 , which has 6 lines and startd signing up with providers , SHOCK horror - even giving some of them cash so i had some credits to play with
Anyways im struggling to get my voipuser line working , but heres where i am ... grandstream 2020 , plugged into a BT home hub 2
Gradwell - woking perfect and always has
Voipfone - working peerfect and always has
Sipgate - never managed to get it connecting
Voipuser - never managed to get it connecting
freespeech - never managed to get it connecting
my sip switch - never managed to get it connecting
Now i have entered some very simple details into mysipswitch
IE - account name / sip / password and all of the above CONNECT perfect confirmed using their monitoring tool ..but i cant have access to the lines as LOL i cant get my sip switch to register / connect on the granstream so its all big nystery to me !
If you own a grandstream 2020 , and or have connected to the above unconnected providers would appreciate a heads up on the settings or even just some ideas on where to go forward particulary with the voipuser account ... im pretty sure this should be easy and im making it hard for myself !
Or if you own a grandstream 2020 what providers are you manage to connect to easily without any hassles , details appreciated

Also spmething that confuses me ... each LINE has its own account page on the grandstream admin , then their is an advanced setting page with space to enter STUN ( ni idea what this is or what it does ? ) ... and a couple of the providers suggest entering their stun address ? grrrr but clealry only space for one ..how do you get around this ? |

I use mysipswitch and it works OK but they are in the process of changing servers at present. I know nothing about the 2020 but you will likely have to forward both SIP and RTP ports from a router to the 2020 for each voip provider. You should try running stun where you have problems (voipuser stun server is stun.voipuser.org .... any stun server will normally do for one and all). |

Tell us what router you are using and the current settings. Have you given the 2020 a fixed internal IP? |

HIya , using a BT home HUB 2
Its unlikely i have given this router a Fixed IP , as i have no idea how to do it or hy - i simply plugged it in - it worked
However I was having some trouble with a freecom network hard drive recently and was having discussions with their technical support and thy took me thru the intructions for a fixed IP router .. so i kinda of prsume for that that the router has a fixed IP

No, have you given the 2020 a fixed internal IP? Once done, forward SIP ports in the 5060 UDP -> up range, one each for each line of the 2020 and put the assigned port number into the 2020. As well, forward RTP ports, 8000 - 30 UDP to the 2020.
Manual here http://www.grandstream.com/gxp2020.html if you need it. |

From manual of 2020
"IP Address There GXP operates in two modes:
1. DHCP mode: all the field values for the Static IP mode are not used (even
though they are still saved in the Flash memory.) The GXP acquires its IP
address from the first DHCP server it discovers on its LAN. The DHCP
option is reserved for NAT router mode. To use the PPPoE feature, set the
PPPoE account settings. The GXP establishes a PPPoE session if any of
the PPPoE fields is set.
2. Static IP mode: configure all of the following fields: IP address, Subnet
Mask, Default Router IP address, DNS Server 1 (primary),"
Ok currently looking at the admin o grandstream it is set for DHCP mode , NOT static mode .. so if i changed it to static mode .. what would i put in all those boxes ? and how on earth do I forward ports ? i have no idea what that means ?
thanks for your patience

You still have not said what router you are using... probably came from your ISP? You need to check the router manual to see what action you need to take to set up internal addresses. Usually you simply give an address that is outside the DHCP range of the router. If you connect directly to the internet then other actions are needed. I guess the BT thingy acts as router so check the manual. BT may have some ports already in use or reserved or blocked. |
