The quality is as good or bad as the quality and capacity of the data connection you have.

The quality can easily equaly that of a normal pstn call.

Hi Leo and welcome to Voipuser

The quality of any VOIP call is dependent on the following ...

The audio equipment you are using
How that audio equipment is connected
The equipment your ISP runs
The contention ratio of your internet connection
The physical condition of the last mile connecting line and the proximity to potential sources of interference
The codec you are using

Plus all these factors again at the call receiving party end

It's a wonder it works at all isn't it? Well luckily VOIP is generally as good and can be better than POTS. With new inititives towards High Definition Voice its likely to become even better in the short term. Many phone companies use VOIP internally so you have probably been using it for years without even knowing.
