Hello,

I am new to the forum so i do apologize if i have posted this in the wrong section of the forum.

I am new to the voip world and have recently configured and put online an asterisk server basically running a remote pbx for a small call center.

I am hungry for information in regards to this industry and have been searching through the hundreds of current voip providers offering wholesale and carrier services. My question is what exactly is involved in configuring your own call termination/Origination would this reaquire service from a top teir provder? what kind of equipment is required?

If my questions are unclear please let me know as i said i am new to this industry and looking for more information any info or links to offsite documentation or info will be much appreciated.

Thank You in advance.

-Jay

Welcome to VoIP User Jay.

In short:-

1. Relationships with number providers (typically regulators, so here in the UK that would be Ofcom for example).

2. Gateway equipment (PSTN in one end, IP in the other).

3. Support infrastructure to keep that all running, and apply for new numbers when you need them etc.

Well the alternative is to go to someone that already has all of the above, and you just white-label it.
