We have been testing out a Hosted SIP PBX solution from Junction Networks. All was going great, so we inquired about number porting. It turns out there are no issues porting any of our numbers except for our two main numbers.

I have been back and forth with them on the issue. Apparently for the two problem numbers, they say we couldn't have more than 2 simultaneous calls come in on these numbers.

(These numbers currently reside on a full PRI)

Below is their email somewhat explaining the situation, with some unworkable workarounds.

Is there a solution to this? Would a different provider not have this 2 channel limitation?

Thanks for any help.

(I am based in the US)

Congratulations, your numbers can be ported.

****
Please Note - for these particular lines, (407-352-xxxx,407-352-xxxx) we can only support two (2) simultaneous calls. For the other 4 numbers we can port via our 25 channel provider.

Possible solutions to 2 channel limitations:
1.) If the inbound call is going to be a long call, tell the caller you will call them back. That frees up the line because you are calling them back using your outbound calling where there is no limitation.
2.) Put a different number into your outbound caller-ID. When callers return your call, they will a number with 25 simultaneous calls instead of your limited number.
3.) Give 'friends and family' a number to call that has a 25 channel limit.

Hi

You need to ask why these 2 numbers will have a limit and not the others..

Many suppliers do impose limits. But in this case it seems odd that it only will effect 2 of the numbers, It may be to do with the company they use to port the numbers with.

They said that only their 2 channel number porting service can actually port that number. Their regular 25 channel service could not.

Hi

Find another supplier, and see what they can do, It doesnt make sense what your supplier is saying. I assume the other numbers you want to port are a simlar number range

The two numbers in question were originally POTS lines coming to our office in 1990 or so. They've been on a T1 or PRI the last 10 or so years. The numbers that they say are no issue came with our most recent PRI.
