hi,
I'm an engineering student developing an IVRS for my final year project..we have made our own voice response application (soft phone) using speech server..but we need a free VoIP provider that would help us make call from LAPTOP(where the application is installed) TO ANY MOBILE, and vice versa.
so is ther any such service provider? and more importantly is it possible to make a call from laptop to any mobile and vice versa? |

HI
You will need to use a ITSP to route your calls to the mobile network and to the phone.

There are plenty of ITSPs. You will be best to find a local one to you if you can. You are very unlikely to find and ITSP that offers free calls to cell phones (and vice versa) as it costs money, but, do you really need to talk to cell phones or is that part of the project? |

i'l explain my projct in brief:
Domain- my college
we are developing the project using speech server,communication server 2003;
c# and vb.net for interface;
we've developed the soft phone which follows the 'workflow' made in speech server on reciving a call.
The IVRS we are devloping will make calls and receive calls through VOIP.. Since I'm in India (maharashtra->ratnagiri), we dont have any VoIP providers and hence we are clueless to how to make calls.
even calling or receiving a call from one number, be it mobile or PSTN, will do..
is there any other alternative? |

Even calling to/from India via PSTN via voip costs money but you can get quite a few calls for $5. |

ok..
So is there any way to simulate it?
i mean instead of using an ITSP, is there any way to make use of VoIP in P2P connection, just between 2 laptops? do we need any console for that? |

One instance of X-Lite can call another using the IP addresses. Most ITSP allow SIP to SIP calls free of charge. |
