Vipadia Launch OpenSource Skype XMPP Bridge

I'm wondering if bridging to Skype will be all the rage this year. Fring and iSkoot led the first wave of 3rd Party Skype interconnect without troubling Skype for the instruction manual and now everyone seems to be at it and trying to play catch-up.
The hard part with interconnecting to Skype is not the voice but actually the IM and Presence piece. We've had lots of talk here in over the last few years about whether Skype would ever build a bridge of their own to interconnect to other networks. I wondered whether all that was needed was a decent opensource project to solve the problem and that's what Vipadia has just release:-

| Karaka implements the XMPP standards XEP-0100 for gateway support, XEP-0045 for multi-user chats and XEP-0144 for roster exchange. |
It has good pedigree too - Vipadia is a company run by Neil Stratford and Neil is on the first call list for several technical directors when it comes to solving challenging problems and building scalable VoIP systems.

Interested, sometimes ago Gizmo5 released OpenSky project, which allows any mobile phone, web browser or IP aware phone network (SIP, asterisk, etc) to communicate with Skype users. OpenSky supports sending text messages. But it's not free and cost 20$ per year.

Very interesting. I downloaded karaka source codes from its repository on a Google SVN tree and it doesn't seem to have any instruction on how to compile/install.
