Hi,

So Im a noob when it comes to VoIP but I signed up to fonosip.com, got a pay as you go plan and got a free washington DID to start with IpKall.

Now the problem is, Im using an intel mac with Xlite 3 as my softphone. Whenever I use Xlite, I get a registration error 408 and the send button stays greyed out. I can't make any calls. Im on a router and although my mac doesn't have any firewall settings enabled, the router might but I have no idea how to check or even what the password is as its my roomates.

Secondly, if I go into account settings in the Xlite and try and make any changes, the Xlite program then freezes. I've tried deleting the program and download it again but nothing changes.

I have a feeling that it will work if I enter some different info in the Topology part of account settings-like STUN settings or something but I don't know.

Both companies aren't helping me at all and as a noob, I just want this to work and be able to make calls!

Im told that a 408 error is caused by the router firewall...

Im a noob so I don't know how to bypass the router/firewall. I've turned off the firewall settings totally on my mac. How do I turn off the settings on the router? How do I bypass it?

Also, how can I disable QoS? I don't even know what this is... how do I do it on a mac?

Thanks, I really want this to work!

I got it, nevermind. Disabling Qos did the trick for anyone interested.
