I'm looking to deploy WiFi SIP phones in my home. It seems like most of these came and went a couple of years back for the consumer market. Any thoughts or feedback on what's available out in the market? |

Hi cnaegle, welcome to VoIP User.
The problem with WiFi as a technology is battery life. If you want these for home, DECT is far better.
I've got a SNOM M3 which has the basestation next to my WiFi router (plugged in with a cable) and then the phone itself is DECT, so best of both worlds. I see the technology moving in that direction.
Have you a specific requirement that needs WiFi for the wireless factor? |

No not really other than I have WiFi coverage everywhere I need it. DECT seems to be a pretty getting pretty good reviews. I have not tested it for reach through out the home, yard, etc. That may certainly be the way to go. |

I have to agree with Dean. The current cordless DECT phones are very good. I use an ATA box (SPA3102) that connects the landline PSTN and Voip calls to a Sanyo (not quite DECT) three handset cordless phone that works perfectly over the whole house and garden. The range is better and more reliable than my wifi gives. |

So you just use and ATA and connect your DECT phone to it? Do you get all the caller ID, etc through it? |

Hi.
As long as the ATA and Dect support the same method of callerID then yes callerID is passed no problem

Yes, here (Canada) with the ATA that I use, the caller ID both from PSTN and voip are passed OK. The caller ID can be used to redirect the call etc selectively. |

another significant factor (probably) is that dect phones are also a lot cheaper. |

Here the DECT phones are slightly more costly. It was possible to get old style cordless phones for less than the cost of a new battery for a while. |
