Hi,
Has anyone tried the $1 free calls from !@£$%^? I just tried it using my DVG-1402S VoIP router (with G711, G726, and G729a CoDecs enabled) and the audio quality was very poor and the delay is > 1 sec (calling from US -> Indonesia). I believe the connection didn't use G711 CoDec and with a smaller stream. I know because the audio quality was kind of choppy. I don't believe it had anything to do with my DVG-1402S because the same setup was also used when I tested with VoIPUser calls that gave a better/clearer audio quality. If I were to compare the audio quality of this phone call with the one I tried using VoIPUser, I would rate this one way below mediocre with the one from VoIPUser on above average. Can anyone who has tried this $1 free service please comment this? |

Hi Mazilo,
I did try the service for calling India. I agree with your opinion that there was a slight delay and can be considered lower than average but I was able to complete the conversation. !@£$%^ uses G723 only at the moment as specified on their website. The voice quality was certainly not as good as Voipuser.
Maybe by the time they come out of beta, the sound quality may become better. For a broad acceptance, they will ultimately have to improve voice quality and support more codecs, e.g., G729 or G711.

I had no way of telling if the CoDec used was G723 mainly because I had the account on an ATA device. However, what I could say was the audio quality wasn't better than the audio quality from a VoIPBlaster (VB) which also uses G723.1 CoDec. I know this because I have several VB units used on a daily base. |

I came to know that !@£$%^ is using G723 codec and they are planning to support G711 in their next version...as per the conversation I had with their support team.
I've fully utilised my $1 free talk time they gave me and I didnt find any voice lag and more over the quality is OK. The destinations I made includes India, Singapore and USA. |

Could someone please give the SIP settings for Globe 7.
Last month when I contacted the technical support dept.of Globe 7 , they told me that Globe 7 works only with their software and cannot be used with a SIP Phone adaptor.
Thanks.

My account is correctly registered in my X-Lite and my ATA!
I can find username and password for SIP now!
The informations are in the file Creden.ini
Are two authentications, one for service, one for SIP
Service:
USER_EMAIL= is your email
USER_EMAIL_PWD= is your password but in binary
SIP:
USER_VDID=777nnn this is username SIP
USER_VDID_PWD= 1100100 1110010 1101111 1110111 1110011 1110011 1100001 1110000 this is password for SIP in binary.
The PWD is inverted, the first is the last... in this case, the decoded PWD is: "password".
For decode the SIP PWD use this table:
110000 0
110001 1
110010 2
110011 3
110100 4
110101 5
110110 6
110111 7
111000 8
111001 9
1100001 a
1100010 b
1100011 c
1100100 d

1100110 f
1100111 g
1101000 h
1101001 i
1101010 j
1101011 k
1101100 l
1101101 m
1101110 n
1101111 o
1110000 p
1110001 q

Hey, you are really smart. I have tried it, and it seems that it works. Thank You.Besides, I don't know if it matters with where I live(I live in Taiwan), the server seems too far for me to use(i ping it, and get about 340ms),and the sound quality is not good.
Do you know any other server for !@£$%^ that may be better to me? Thanks Vincent |
