Hi!

Apologies in advance for my voip noobishness!

I'm part of Australian company opening an office in San Francisco (around the city area). We have an asterisk box at the office in Australia and use a combination of ISDN and VoIP to get cheap, reliable, local and international calls.

We want to get a San Francisco number which we can use with our asterisk box to be able to route local san fran calls to our Australian office for the cost of a local call (in san fran).

I assume we need a DID which our asterisk box can use through IAX, we should then be able to do any configuration we like, using our current setup plus the new phone number.

Does anyone know of a reputable DID provider that would be able to do this? We want to have the number printed on business cards etc, so wouldn't want a fly by night company...

Or am I totally on the wrong track?

Thanks in advance!

Mike

p.s sincerest apologies if i'm posting this in the wrong place!

Hi Myke and welcome to Voipuser

My suggestion would be not to bother with the DID. Just set up a SIP server or SIP Gateway at the USA Location and configure one of the local PSTN numbers to connect through to Australia when called.

Staff in either office will have access to free internal calls and you will be able to set up to answer each others calls outside local working hours (due to time difference).
