I am currently a Vonage US customer residing in the UK. I was shopping for a new modem/router and found the DG834GV. Supposedly you can enter your VoIP settings into it and it will act as the VoIP adapter. I could then do away with one item of hardware (the provided Vonage adapter). Does anyone out there no if Vonage will support these and give the settings needed to set it up? The only thing I've been able to find was a guy throwing the biggest online forum tantrum I've ever seen because Vonage would no longer support his provided adapter on their network if he hacks/unlocks it for use with a PBX or something like that. (It was actually kind of funny to read). Anyway, if anyone knows whether or not Vonage allows configuring these 3rd party adapters for use with their service, I would greatly appreciate the info.
BACKGROUND: I'm a bit techie, but not real familiar with the intricacies of VoIP. (I don't know what most of the acronyms on here mean). Again, Vonage customer, but I don't know the model # of my provided adapter (working away at the moment). I downloaded the manual for the router which shows the info required for set up if that will help with an answer. I am interested in getting this Netgear router, but would like to know about the compatibility first. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Voipuser forums.

To be certain that you can use the DG834GV with Vonage you need to ask for and get approval from Vonage, preferably in writing. Depending on how you are using the service and with a technical knowledge you can probably save money by designing your service for yourself and, as a bonus, learn about Voip at the same time.
