Try changing the NAT filtering from secured to open and see it that helps. If not, it looks like you may have to do some more port forwarding. Find out the ports that the phone uses and forward them from the WNR200 to the phone.

Thank you too! The NAT filtering was indeed secured and I changed it in vain. Same questions concerning the way to find the ports used by the phone.

I now know it's definitely not a problem of phone settings because I ended up by finding one of my providers (voisptunt) among the list of providers for which autoconfiguration is availbale (I found it under the wrong country - Netherlands! I thought Betamax was a provider located in Germany!) and I let the sip download the configuration and set it automatically. But I still have the same registering failure message, which means the problem is on the router side.

Sorry, the post was sent twice and now I can't delete the redundant one. It also happened with a previous one and that was because, when one posts a comment, instead of being taken to the last post/page of the thread you are taken back to the first page! My apologies to the administrators/moderators.

Try forwarding the ports 5060 UDP for sip, 5004 UDP for rtp and also activate STUN on the phone and forward port 10000 for stun. (You may already have forwarded 5060)

Perhaps that will help.

I had indeed already forwarded ports 5060 and 5004 to 5020 in TCP/UDP as I didn't know which one of these were required. 5004 to 5020 seem to be the ports the phone uses as I found the indication under advanced settings in its configuration page. Now, the problem is that I don't have such a thing as RTP. I have only TCP, UDP and TCP/UDP in the protocol dropdown menu.

You only need to forward the ports UDP (not TCP & UDP).

The 5060 UDP port carries the SIP information and the 5004 - 5020 (also UDP only) are a range to be used to carry the voice packets using the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP), actually the voice packets.

You can try turning on UPNP (page 5-14 in the manual) which might help. Apart from that the only thing left is (as Gray sugeests) to post a copy of the now existing set up on the router and the phone (remove passwords).

I followed all your advices always with negative result.

How can I post the various screenshots for the gigaset and the router?

Can you connect the phone directly to the internet (ie. bypass the router) and see if it works. You need to establish what it is that is causing the problem.

You can save the configuration by accessing the devices using your broweser, logging in and when the front page has loaded go to the "File" tab and then select "Save page as" choosing the further option "Web Page, HTML only". This should save all of the information in one file.

Unfortunately, I cant do that because my ISP attaches the connection to a predetermined device (pc, router...) identified by its ip address. The only way to to it would be to ask the provider to substitute the mac address of the gigaset to that of my router. But, then, I'll have no longer access to the internet!

Ok, but how to upload the file? Attachment upload is not available in the topic reply interface as far as I can see.

Mine does the same. If the Gigaset offers the option "Clone MAC address" you may be able to give the phone the address of the router while you test..... probably not a good idea if you are not too confident about what you are doing. Another alternative is to put the phone in the DMZ of the router.... might work but not all routers seem to provide a proper DMZ.

The best way is to post it on a local server (files are fairly large) and post a link to the files here. Your provider probably offers web space.

I have sent you a pm

An update for all those who were so kind to care and try to help. While I haven't resolved the problem yet, I now know for sure the problem is neither with the gigaset nor with ad hoc settings of port forwarding, stun or anything of the kind whatsover. I simpl put back my old router, another netgaer (WGR614 v.6) and the voipstunt service registered without further ado. This means the problem is with that router in particular and I don't even think it's a problem of hardware compatibility with this model of Siemens sip phone because I tried my old PAP2T Linksys adapter and it didn't work either whereas it works with the WGR614. There should be some feature/setting in the WNR2000 that is not favourabale to sip connections. I'll keep searching and asking. If I have any new element, I'll keep you posted. Thanks to everybody who tried to help!
