Hi Obi and welcome to Voipuser

Can you post the settings you are having problem with. Voipstunt are not known for their prompt response!

Have you also done a forum search for Gigaset? There are already some resources here.

Hello Gray, thanks for the reply. Provider registration failed
settings>telephony>connection assistant>select country>select provider>(no voipstunt listed as one of the providers, so the manual states that you should perform some steps in order to create voipstunt as one of the providers)The steps are as follows: you should press the display key (this will take you back to the connection assistant)and under connection assistant you will see settings for
username>authentication name>authentication password.
My problem is that I do not know my username>authentication name>authentication password and so the final screen states that provider registration failed. Voipstunt has not been helpful at all. Can you help me pls

OK - Lets jump back a couple of steps. Presumably you have signed up with Voipstunt and paid them some money? Also I am presuming that if you set up your call using a PC using the Voipstunt software then you get connection - right? (If not then you will need to do that and try it out - they do give you a few free landline calls so you may just be able to test it without paying).

I am assuming also you have clicked on the Union Jack to have the site in English - if not then for example 'Nome de utilizador' in Portuguese = username)*

When you start the actual Voipstunt programme on your PC at the top left you need to enter 'Voip Stunt Username' this is your username and also your authentication name (same thing)

The second entry on the Voipuser screen is 'Password' (Palavra-chave' in Portuguese) this is your authentication password in Siemens language.

At this point you can log out of the Voipstunt PC programme and forget it as the info can now be used to setup the Siemens.

Some extra info here ...

http://www.voipstunt.com/en/sipp.html

I think you should have enough to get going now, let us know what happens.

*You don't way where you are but I am guessing Portugal as Voipustunt is the Portuguese users preferred betamax associate as it offers include landline calls in that country after pre payment.

I have now subscribed to sip discount. I thought it will be easier to register my siemens gigaset 470IP unto the sip discount because unlike voipstunt, sip discount is listed as one of the providers in the handset. It asks me for my authentication name and authentication password. Each time I do this, it tells me that "registration failed" then it tells me that server is not available. I have also noticed that whenever I tried registering the handset to the sip account, my internet connection becomes unstable. When I switch to default landline instead of VOIP, I am able to use the handset to make landline calls but once I switch to voip, it tells me that registration failed. I am in Australia. Can you assist me please?

Can you tell us a bit more about how you connect to the internet. Do you use a router? If so which one? Have you opened ports in the router or have you set a stun server? (Don't know the device so not sure if there is a space to enter this).

Have you checked that the account is actually active? Try making a call from a PC by logging into the web interface of Sip Discount.

Are you using the right server name now you are with a different provider ie. sip discount instead of voipstunt.

Can you post the settings you are actually putting in (without the password of course).

From your description so far it looks most likely that your router is prohibiting the connection to the Siemens device.

Some possible help here ...

I have a SipDiscount account that is still active and it does register OK and I can make calls. So, my guess is that your phone is not connecting properly to voip. How have you got the phone connected to the internet? Are you using a router and if so are the required voip ports (5060-5061 UDP(sip) and a range say 8000-8010 UDP(rtp) available to the Gigaset? You may find some useful information on this site: forums.whirlpool.net.au

I connect the gigaset via a netgear DG834N router. I have not opened ports in the router and i have not set a stun server as I do not know how to go about doing these. I can make calls from my PC by logging onto my account on my PC. Also, how do I find the voip ports and range?

Thanks, Obi

This is probably where the problems is.

If you were using X-Lite you were probably using STUN. As far as I could see, your phone does not offer STUN so you will probably need to forward ports from the Netgear. An explanation of port forwarding for the DG834N is here..
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_file ... 114PAnchor
You will need to forward ports 5060 to 5061 UDP (for SIP) and 8000 to 8010 UDP (for RTP) to the IP of your phone. That might be all you need to do. (While you are at it you may need to forward port 5063 UDP to your computer in case you want to use SIP from there.

Thanks a lot, I am now able to register my siemens gigaset C470IP with sipdiscount after following your insructions. The problem now is that I can't differentiate voip calls from fixed landline calls. I do not want to use my landline to make any calls, I want to make all my calls via the internet. I have read the manual concerning this, but the instructions in the manual are different from what the menu in the handset says; for example, the manuals instructs me to go to settings>telephony>dialling plan. There is no option of dialling plan in the telephony drop down menu on my phone. WHAT i HAVE IS SETTINGS>TELEPHONY> (under telephony, I see voip, connection assistant, default, fixed landline). How do I change the settings to make only internet calls and also to access dialling plan please.

Looks like the dial plan function that the Gigaset offers is quite basic.

It seems that a number terminated with a * is sent to PSTN. There are Gigaset owners among the Voipuser membership so perhaps they will be able to help.

Hi friends! I'm new here but I have had the same problem described here. I've just bought a Siemens C470IP handset and I didn't succeed in registering to either of my voip accounts with voipstunt and smsdiscount. Obviously, both accounts are active with some money balance available on each and I have had no problem in using them be it through the pc, with local phone numbers over the landline/cell phone lines or even with the voip adapter I was previously using (Linksys PAP2T). The phone handset is connected to my router (Netgear WNR2000). I entered the settings shown in the faq of both voip providers as I did with the Linksys. I also followed the port forwarding indications found in this thread to no avail. It keeps saying "registration failed" or "server not accessible". Any help would be appreciated.

Hello souhomes and welcome to Voipuser

Go right back through all the settings and check you entered everything correctly in the Siemens setup. (server names, account names, passwords etc) The next thing to try is a complete restart of all equipment. Do you have a router firewall? Check that too.

Try changing the NAT filtering from secured to open and see it that helps. If not, it looks like you may have to do some more port forwarding. Find out the ports that the phone uses and forward them from the WNR200 to the phone.

Thank you for responding! My settings are all correct. No router firewall. Restarted both router and phone to no avail.

Thank you too! The NAT filtering was indeed secured and I changed it to open in vain. How can I find out about the ports used by the phone?
