I'm using Voipcheap with a SIP PAP2 adapter.

How can I call another voipcheap user from the phone.

I tried using the speed dial, but no good!

Any ideas?

Thank you

You will have a Voipcheap 'SIP address' which should be something like this ...

(yourusername)@ voipcheap.com it will be the basis of one of the settings you put into your PAP2

In theory its possible to call another SIP address but you will have problems entering alphanumeric characters from a standard phone. Therefore you could experiment with using a softphone like XLite (free download) on a PC connected to the network and behind the same PAP2. Dependent on the router you use, you may need to open specific ports to ensure you get a two way voice connection.

There is some specific discussion of this topic on the Voipbuster forum here ...

https://forum.voipbuster.com/

You will need to register first to be able to get in.

The other option you have us to use the services available here at Voipuser - if both parties register then calls between Voipuser members are free and unlike Voipcheap you get a free UK Inbound number too.

Please note that despite sharing the same first four letters there is no connection between Voipuser (a VOIP Community) and Voipcheap or Voipbuster (both of which are operated by Betamax Germany)

Hi, thank you for replying...

The idea of using Voipuser accounts would be great. I have no interest in Voipcheap itself, since my main goal at this moment is to enable a gateway for my Skype account, even though, in the future I'll probably let go of Skype in favor of the other account.

I just didn't understood about the UK number part. For instance, I'm registered, but don't have a number. In My Numbers' I can request one, but for a price, if I'm not mistaken. How to get that free UK number?

Before reading your post, I did tried it with the Gizmo Project, and now I can make the call between the both accounts, but now I have another problem.

My Linksys PAP2 adapter is not answering the calls. It returns busy, and the Gizmo passes me through to VoiceMail, when active.

Do you know if PAP2 requires some config. to answer calls?

Thank you

Voipuser offers free DIDs (numbers). You can call in on these numbers if you are in the UK (and from a few other places). You can select a free number that can be routed on via voip from the "My Numbers" tab. Yes, the calls cost money but Voipuser gets a small part of the money which it then uses to fund Voipuser (non-profit) and some free outgoing calls for you.

Your experience with Gizmo is similar to what I have observed. You may need to open additional ports and perhaps forward them and, because, if I remember correctly, Gizmo does not (by default) use the normal SIP ports.

Which gateway?

Perhaps, you will need to read this FAQ and then come back to post your question. At one point, I had no problems to concurrently register/use up to six GizmoProject/SIPPhone accounts on three different PAP2/RT31P2/WRTP54G devices without any ports forwarding. AFAIC, both GizmoProject and SIPGate provide a SIP Registrar Address server that makes it easier to configure an ATA behind a NAT/Firewall router.

You're right, I'm sorry. I missed that one out.

In any case, I've been trying to sort this out on my own, meanwhile, and the problem has gone beyond the title of this post.
I'm not sure what's the best thing to do, in any case I posted a new topic with the main problem right now:

Hope you can help...
