I get an error when running openserctl start (ERROR: PID file /var/run/openser.pid does not exist -- OpenSER start failed).

When I run the command /etc/init.d/openser start the computer replies

Code:
Starting openser: openserListening on
             udp: 127.0.0.1 [127.0.0.1]:5060
             udp: 192.168.0.8 [192.168.0.8]:5060
             tcp: 127.0.0.1 [127.0.0.1]:5060
             tcp: 192.168.0.8 [192.168.0.8]:5060
Aliases:
             tcp: ClanVOIP:5060
             tcp: ClanVOIP.CLAN:5060
             tcp: localhost:5060
             udp: ClanVOIP:5060
             udp: ClanVOIP.CLAN:5060
             udp: localhost:5060

but when I run /etc/init.d/openser status, it is not running.

Could anyone please help me on this?

Thanks

I forgot to mention that I am using ubuntu and used synaptic to install openser. I then tried to use apt-get because the error I got. If I download the source and compile, would I be able to use the pid from there?

i gave you the exact command to issue on the openser box to fix the problem (executed with a user that has sufficient privilege of course)
