Hai all,

In NANP Numbring plan, i see some of the numbers are assign to Zones. for example if you referrer to number pattern 703-655, which is asigne to "Washington Zone 17 - Virginia ".

Now my question is, What is this Washington Zone 17 ?
cant we translate this Zone to a area with in VA ?

Washington, DC abuts the borders of Maryland and Virginia. Some of its suburbs lie within those states.

A Washington/Virginia Zone xx number will be a number for a Virginia suburb of Washington, DC. The zones are for particular parts of the city. Most large US cities are subdivided into zones and numbers are assigned on the basis of the zones.

You can use the website http://www.localcallingguide.com to determine if the number you are being offered will be a local call where you need it to be.

Washington's local phone numbers are all +1-202, if you want a native Washington number. Many VoIP providers have them.
