Hi

Just setting up a method of displaying which server of a redundant pair is running and I thought of using a LCD display.
That bits simple, but its the driver to use.
There seem to be a few about, lcdproc project uses the lcdd and client and also there is another called lpt_driver but thats not moved for many years but looks like what I want.

What if anything are any of you using ?

I used that one many years ago and it works very well. I don't think anything would have outdated it (except that the LPT port might not be with us for much longer).

There's a load of people around using LCD's for building video recorders and audio players with old PC's - that might be the best place to look for information?

If you don't mind getting the soldering iron out, there's a nice USB variation on the classic 16x2 LPT here:-
