I tried using hylafax sendmail program to send a fax to voip provider which then route the call to my landline fax machine. Although I can hear the fax machine ringing once, the fax can't be received. I have tried both voipuser and callwithus with no luck. Callwithus said it will never work. Is this true? Is there any way to get faxed sent to a landline fax machine?

Thanks,
Pete

Not quite true but it is fraught with problems due to the nature of Voip. Depending on the codec you have set there will be a degree of compression of the packets which are themselves chopped up into bits during the send process.

In theory if you have great bandwidth, set zero compression codec and a bit of luck - it will work.

Don't overlook the free Voipuser Fax to email service - it works well and saves a lot of the bother as long as your senders have access to UK 0844 numbers

Dear Gray,

Thank you for your advice. Would you please kindly point out exactly how to change to use another codec? I am sorry if this seems an obvious question. I am still a newbie in this.
