Hi,

Anyone care to suggest alternatives or recommendations?

I am looking for a three handset DECT solution which supports - as the Seimens appear to - multiple SIP accounts and the ability to direct to individual handsets, configuration of Answermachine for specific called numbers (or analogue line) and generally decent quality and flexibility.

The C475IP looks to be just around the corner and the S675IP (or S685IP) is also hopefully near to becoming available in the UK.

Has anyone any experience with Gigaset or could offer some alternatives with similar functionality?

Thanks

Alan

You could also take a look at the Snom M3, I think it does more or less the same job.

Nope, it doesn't have a PSTN (Analogue) interface. But it does look a very nice phone although there are a couple of usage limitations like no ability to upload address book type information to the handset. The Siemens models take can vcard type data.

thanks

Thanks but this is really aimed at larger businesses. You need their Access Points for the handsets to talk to and again, it isn't really designed for home use and PSTN connectivity.

These two look quite interesting. I'll try and find out a bit more about these. Thanks.

No good unfortunately. It's not SIP, it's Skype... Sad

Yes - I have looked at these but not read any good reviews. What I have read was not very positive and lots of talk of the devices being "locked" for their 'JOIP' IP telephony network. I'll do a bit more research but the Siemens devices do seem to have an excellent feature set and price.

These guys: http://www.home-phones.co.uk/asp/search.asp?keywords=siemens&submit=Go%21

told me they will have the C475IP in stock next Tuesday and the S685IP within 4 - 6 weeks. The S685IP could be a real killer with Bluetooth support too - if I can wait that long Smile that is.

Anyway thanks again and I'll check out the Broad-tel devices a bit more.

There is definitely a Philips product for SIP as well as one for Skype - a little further research on your part will bring up the info.

When you do make a selection please post back here and let us know what you ended up looking at, what you chose and why. There is a lot of interest in this type of hardware right now.

Not that I can find... http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/en/gb/consumer/cc/_categoryid_INTERNET_AND_DUAL_PHONES_CA_GB_CONSUMER/

They are either Skype or WLM (Windows Live Messenger) whatever that is... As an Open Source advocate and loather of pretty much anything Microsoft I think I'll pass on WLM phones Wink

Yes I will definitely. From what I can find - the Siemens are the ONLY models to offer the full feature set I'm looking for. I can't get to the bottom of the Panasonic range and they are more expensive so I think I'm probably going to go for the Siemens. Only issue really is if I can wait for the S685IP or go for the C475IP. But I'll certainly get back with some reviews etc. I use Asterisk at home and will be blogging about the deployment of these phones as I go along too.

Cheers

Alan
