US Customer wants to donate

Hello admin-type-people!

First off, thanks for providing this service. I'm just getting my feet wet with VoIP, and it's really great to have a free and/or low-cost service to try before investing heavily in VoIP technology and services.

I'm not a big phone user at the best of times, and rarily make outgoing phone calls. Perhaps 5 times a week on average, with most calls lasting a few minutes at most. I'd love to donate on a pay-as-you-go schedule (based on my rating), as I'm not here to be a leech. I don't generate income via incoming calls because I don't know anyone in the UK. I'm over in the US and noone is going to make a long-distance call across the world just to talk to me across town

So I guess my questions are: does the Paypal donation through the "My SIP Account" page get creditted to my Account Rating directly? If not, how can I improve my rating? Is there a way to donate more than 5 pounds at a time?

Welcome to Voipuser forums

The Voipuser servers have undergone some major upgrades recently and may be why you have not had a reply. I do not know much about Paypal or the Paypal mechanism that voipuser uses but someone who does will probably get back to you. The cost of Voip calls depends on where you are calling rather than where you call from so it costs the same to call the USA from Canada, Australia and the UK as well as next door (should be no more than between 1 and 2 cents/min retail). I live in Canada and the use of Voip means that my long distance charges are very small when compared to what they were with the local telephone company.

Yes, they get credited to your account and you can donate any amount you like.

As Charles mentioned above, we're in the process of some major server upgrades, so service is a little hit and miss at the moment (we should be good in a week or so).

Please don't overlook the fact that this is a community website, anyone can answer any post and you should not wait for admin input on all matters.

All admins and mods donate their time freely and the main job is to keep the hardware and software (the string and chewing gum that keeps Voipuser working) functioning as far as possible with the available resources.

A donation is always appreciated, (we are making some changes to the server equipment right now and that takes cash).

Sorry ilanish - the only waste of time is your own in complaining. Why not spend your time better helping constructively there are plenty of people new to the subject that have not reached your own level of experience and would benefit from your assistance.
