Written by martyndavies on Mar 05, 2008 - 05:32 PM

Siemens OpenScape Video is a range of high definition video solutions for video conferencing in the enterprise, announced yesterday. Integrating with the OpenScape unified communications suite that Siemens have already been selling for some years, the product includes HD cameras and high quality codec support in conference phones, allowing what is increasingly called "telepresence" by companies like Cisco, Microsoft and HP. Siemens have had a long relationship with Microsoft, who contribute Live Communications Server that powers presence and messaging, as well as PBX interconnect to OpenScape.

OpenScape Video starts with the VHD100, priced at $8999, for single users, followed by the VHD400 for 4 party video conferences and the VHD600 for 6 parties. Products will be available at the end of April 2008.

At the same time, Siemens are launching OpenScape Unified Communications Server, supporting video, IP telephony and legacy PBX interconnect. This integrates with UC software such as Microsoft OCS and IBM Lotus Sametime to integrate applications and communication. Siemens seek to shake off their legacy PBX provider image: Eve Aretakis, CEO, Siemens Communications:
Quote:

“With the introduction of OpenScape Unified Communications Server, we have reached a significant milestone in our transition from a traditional VoIP manufacturer to a top global software and services company focused on a new era in the enterprise communications market. Simply put, OpenScape UC Server is the easiest, most affordable and flexible way to introduce full UC into any existing telephony or IT environment.”
